caring for migrant workers children public welfare boosting june first

Early on June 1st, the members of the Codoon Wenzhou Running Group were already busy. Zhiwei and Chenqing, the owners of Yuan Zhi Qiao Guoqiao Rice Noodles, along with several employees, hurriedly drove the store's small truck out; Brother Lianzhong from Xia Lupu also enthusiastically rode a public bicycle out... They all had the same goal today: 'Caring for Migrant Workers' Children, Public Welfare Run on Children's Day,' to deliver the love of the Codoon Wenzhou Running Group to Xinyang Primary School in Louqiao Street, Ouhai District, Wenzhou City.

At 8:30 in the morning, according to the planned schedule, the running group packed and loaded over 500 books, 54 children's backpacks, and children's stationery donated by 57 members, and headed to Xinyang Primary School. Together with the teachers, they handed out the love-filled backpacks to the children and added over 500 books to the school's library. Members of the Niushan Sub-team also interacted with the children, running laps on the school's simple playground and taking group photos. Although the donation ceremony was brief, it was filled with love.

As early as mid-to-late May, a running group administrator suggested: Children's Day is approaching, can the running group do something for the children? After careful consideration, everyone decided to mobilize the members to donate a batch of children's books, backpacks, and stationery to the children of migrant workers' schools, who need care the most.

With the help of many contacts, the running group identified Xinyang Primary School as the beneficiary of this public welfare activity. Xinyang Primary School is located in the Louqiao Industrial Zone, where the shoe and leather manufacturing industry is relatively developed, and there are many migrant workers. More than 1,000 children of migrant workers study at this school, making it an ideal choice for the support point, as it can benefit more people.

Initially, the administrators were worried that such a public donation activity might not receive any response. However, as soon as the proposal was posted in the running group's WeChat group, it received enthusiastic feedback. Members were busy donating books and money, bustling with activity.

Runner Wanli donated 63 books in one go, and runner Junwei, who initially pledged 20 books, later went to the bookstore to buy more than 40 books and delivered them personally. Administrator Chengxian not only donated 200 yuan but also urged his friend, the owner of Daigaole Leather Goods Store in Nanya Mall, to help buy backpacks. His earnestness moved the owner of Shangwu Wang Leather Goods Store, who provided 44 children's backpacks at cost price and even donated an additional 10 backpacks.

More runners chose to donate money, and the donation amounts were also unique. Many runners chose to donate 61.00 yuan, symbolizing 'Happy Children's Day'; some donated 61.52 yuan, meaning 'Children's Day, I love you.' Wang Jinchun, president of the Ouhai Outdoor Sports Association, donated 261.61 yuan. Zhiwei and Chenqing also donated 780 yuan collected from customers' one-yuan coins at their store, plus an additional 400 yuan from themselves. Some runners, though living far away, still cared about Wenzhou and actively donated money and goods.

In just over ten days, the charity donation activity received donations from 57 runners, totaling 5,166.89 yuan and more than 260 books. The running group arranged for the purchase of an additional 240 books, 44 children's backpacks, and a batch of children's learning supplies with the donated funds.

At the same time, considering the difficulty children at Xinyang Primary School have in borrowing books due to its suburban location, the running group helped establish contact with the Wenzhou Children's Library. When we expressed our desire to open a mobile library to the school, Director Wang of the Children's Library was very supportive. He not only surveyed the route and school grounds with the running group but also launched the mobile library on Children's Day. This mobile library will visit Xinyang Primary School twice a month, allowing the school's 22 classes and over a thousand students to enjoy the same resources as urban children without leaving the school.

The fiery June and the passionate youth. But this June, the Codoon Wenzhou Running Group brought a warm spring breeze that will last long.
