By this time, I was drenched. The southeast wind blowing through Zhongshan Gate felt refreshing. At fifteen kilometers, my body had fully adapted to the rhythm of running, making it the most comfortable moment of the marathon.
Of course, I am happier than these out-of-town runners because I have also run by Xuanwu Lake adorned with emerald green willows in spring, with lotus leaves stretching to the sky and fragrant buds blooming, and with dragonflies flying over the branches. I have also run by Xuanwu Lake covered in dense snow, where it sheds its charm for a different kind of beauty.
By this time, nearly 30 kilometers in, my energy was noticeably waning. The four consecutive tunnels on Jiangdong Middle Road, with their ups and downs, were mentally exhausting. If the organizers could change the route to a flat side road, it would be great. But then I thought: if the route were changed, cars on Jiangdong Middle Road could only go straight and not turn right, causing inconvenience for the residents of Hexi. The entire city of Nanjing has closed many roads for the marathon, causing much inconvenience. As runners, climbing a few slopes to reduce the trouble for the residents is not a big deal. People should always be tolerant and understanding of each other.
In the last few kilometers, I kept talking to myself: keep running for a while, if you can't, walk a bit to relax.
