my efforts do not stop here girl's first marathon breaks 4 hours as clearwater 4 hour pacer

"It is said that for women, breaking 4 hours in a marathon is as difficult as men breaking 3:30. For an average runner, this is already a recognized and commendable achievement."

Let me share my running "answer"~In May 2018, I joined the Love Running Heroes running group. At that time, I was still a novice runner, weighing 59kg and running about 60-70km per month.

In July, I started running seriously to lose weight, increasing my monthly mileage to 180-200km.Combining this with a diet plan, I lost 6kg in 3 months (you can imagine how overweight I was). Joining the Love Running Heroes group was amazing; the atmosphere was fantastic and made me gradually fall in love with running. Perhaps it was because I enjoyed the happiness that came after each workout.

In the running group, you can't help but be influenced by others to sign up for various marathons. Of course, I was no exception. I started to feel that life wouldn't be complete without running at least one marathon!

Meizhou MarathonFirstMarathon under4 hours

If I wanted to participate in well-known races, the minimum requirement was to have a half-marathon or full-marathon certificate. So, I signed up for the Meizhou Full Marathon in October 2018, aiming to challenge myself by running a full marathon for my first race.

To prepare for the Meizhou Marathon, I ran 280km in the month leading up to the race.

Because of this, my monthly mileage increased significantly, which led to an injury in the meniscus of my right knee, forcing me to rest for two weeks.

Whenever I didn't feel like training, I would motivate myself with this phrase:When you want to give up, it means you are close to success..

In my first race, I ran as I did during training, starting at my own pace and running without hesitation. As expected, my previously injured knee started acting up at the 15km mark.

I was really frustrated at that moment. Oh my god, how could I finish the full marathon if my knee acted up at just 15km?Fortunately, a young man encouraged me throughout the race. I am grateful for every encouraging look I received on the course.

In the end, I gritted my teeth and relied on sheer willpower to endure the pain and complete the race.Crossing the finish line, I was moved by my own perseverance. As long as you don't give up, you can reach the finish line. I did it!

It was destined to be exciting news~I finished my first marathon under 4 hours and even won the 48th place prize for women..

Shenzhen Marathon:Second marathonFinished in 3:40

In December 2018, I participated in the Shenzhen International Marathon.

My preparation mileage was 250-280km per month. My goal wasto finish in 3:45.The night before the race, I went for a foot massage with friends, which caused my calf muscles to be tight on race day.I ran the entire race at a steady pace as planned, because the most likely point to hit the wall in a marathon isafter 30km.On the contrary, if you get past this point, the chances of hitting the wall are very small.

Obviously, I didn't hit the wall; it was just thatin the last2kilometers, my calves felt like they were about to cramp. Seeing that I was still within my target finish time, I didn't dare to speed up and maintained a steady pace. I finished in3:40, a personal best by 20minutes~

Sweat doesn't go to waste, nor do those worn-out running shoes. I am also very grateful to Hei Ming Si Tu~ Love you!I am very satisfied!

Qingyuan Marathon: This time I was a 4-hour pacer

Qingyuan Marathon is known for its rainy and hilly course every year.I signed up with a few friends as a group. No lottery needed, how great! Kudos to Zhongti SportsCall 10086times!

Seeing the recruitment for official pacers, I met the basic requirements for a 4-hour pacer. Thinking about the significance of breaking 4 hours, and having been encouraged to finish under 4 hours before, I signed up out of gratitude.

When I received the notification from the Qingyuan Marathon organizing committee...

It was a pleasant surprise, I was so happy~ I didn't expect to be selected as a pacer on my first try. This perhaps validates the saying: Those wholoveto smile(Li)are lucky~will not have bad luck~

On March 17, 2019, the weather was surprisingly good for the fifth Qingyuan Marathon, with no rain and conditions suitable for a personal best. It was my first time as a pacer, and I was a bit nervous, constantly checking my pace chart.

Since pacers have to start in different zones, it meant we needed to start our watches at the gun and make up the time difference from Zone B to the starting line within the first 5km.

The race started~ I ran through the crowd~ There were plenty of aid stations, and I drank a lot of water at each one. I calibrated my time at every 5km mark to minimize errors and avoid sudden accelerations that could exhaust the runners following me.

Of course, I also cheered on many participants along the way.

What stands out in my memory is the enthusiastic cheering from the students of Qingyuan Vocational and Technical College around the 30km mark.

It was simply amazing!!!

The most touching moment was when participants came to take photos and thank me at the finish line, saying, "We broke 4 hours together, how wonderful."At that moment, I felt that all the effort was worth it.

Post-race thoughts as an official pacer:

As a first-time pacer, the experience was fantastic. Being a pacer is not just a task but also a responsibility and mission to lead everyone to achieve their goals and safely reach the finish line. This is the true meaning of a marathon!

Dare to dream and striveNothing is impossible!

Lastly, thanks to Zhongti Sports and all the staff, volunteers, and security personnel. You all worked hard!

People say that women who break 4 hours in their first marathon have talent and sweat. On the road of running, I only believe in the sweat from hard work.

I am Zoe

Because there is a tomorrow, today is always the starting line.
