This year marks my fourth time running the Hong Kong Marathon,

a race known as 'Asia's most punishing course.'

What exactly is it that attracts me to this race?


This time, I made a three-minute video,

to give you a feel of the course,

and also show the ten pounds I gained over the New Year..



Running during the New Year period is already quite unscientific, and yet I still chose to run a marathon? Looking at the chubby me in the photos, I feel a bit sorry for myself.Let me explain why I keep running it again and again(actually, it's to meet the word count for original content)..


First of all,it's the course design..


Starting early in the morning from Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, passing through two bridges and three tunnels, and returning to Hennessy Road on Hong Kong Island. You could say it covers all the essential routes. Plus, there's a section where you can see the elite runners up close—how cool is that?



Secondly, it's the challenge.


Although the elevation isn't as exaggerated as some people with fake watches claim, the ups and downs in the first half can definitely put some psychological pressure on you. And the merging of the 28k and half marathon routes is another nightmare.


Although I was in the first wave of the challenge group, I started a bit late this time and ran the first half quite slowly. By the time I reached 28k, it was already 8:38 AM, and I still encountered a bunch of half marathon runners.


Considering that running 7k in 38 minutes isn't particularly fast, naturally, there were a lot of people.Actually, as long as you can pass the 28k mark by 8:30, it gets a lot more comfortable.

Lastly, it's because of the convenient transportation.


Just take a ride across the harbor, and you can join everyone in Hong Kong for some food, a run, and some shopping. How relaxing!



So, these are the reasons why I risked gaining ten pounds to run the Hong Kong Marathon! If there's a chance, see you next year!
