marathon events certified like the cet exams

Winter is halfway over, can spring be far behind?

Double 12 is over, isn't it time for the CET-4 and CET-6 exams?

(Cheerleader here bestows the name 'Guo'er' to those taking the CET-4 and CET-6 exams this weekend.)

I once thought that taking the CET-4 and CET-6 exams every six months was a relief, and that I wouldn't have to endure the torture of the CET anymore once I passed.

Never! Ever! Expected!

When I stepped into the running circle, eager to showcase my leg skills, the marathon event information page with a bunch of CAA, IAAF, AIMS, A1, A2... brought me back to the CET exam hall.

What are these?

Does not understanding these English terms affect my event registration?

What's the difference between events with these English terms and those without?

Is the difficulty of getting selected different for events with different English labels?

......

I believe many people don't understand or even notice these English labels next to an event.Simply put, these English abbreviations are the certifications a marathon event has obtained. Different labels represent different recognitions, much like the CET-4 and CET-6 certificates we get upon graduation.

Look, this student from the Chongqing International Marathon has obtained A1, CAA, and IAAF certifications. As for what these are, today, Cheerleader will help you understand them.The CET-4 and CET-6 of marathons—Marathon Event Certifications.

——What is IAAF certification?

IAAF stands for International Association of Athletics Federations. Its purpose is to protect the rights of international amateur athletics, establish friendly cooperation among athletic associations, and oppose discrimination based on race, religion, politics, and other forms.

IAAF has set three labels for marathons: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.Every year, event organizers must submit relevant materials to the IAAF for review.The IAAF rates the event based on its overall standard.This includes the course conditions, support systems, timing systems, referee levels, and the level of participating athletes.

The picture shows the IAAF Gold, Silver, and Bronze labels in sequence.

According to the IAAF's requirements, Gold label events must be re-evaluated every year. Only those that meet the standards can retain the Gold label, making it truly 'golden.' Moreover, to apply for the Gold label, an event must first obtain the Bronze label, then the Silver label, and finally the Gold label. It's just like the CET exams: you must pass CET-4 before you can take CET-6.

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        CAA stands for Chinese Athletic Association, established in 1954. It is a group member of the All-China Sports Federation and is recognized by the Chinese Olympic Committee as the national governing body for athletics.
    </p>

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: center; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        In 2018, the CAA held Gold, Silver, and Bronze label events.
    </p>
    <p style="margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        <br/>
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        The CAA evaluates events based on three levels: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.Each year, the CAA scores events based on evaluation standards, and the results are announced at the annual marathon conference.
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        When an event is both IAAF Gold label and CAA Gold label, it is commonly referred to as a 'Double Gold' event.
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

            <p>
                So, what is the relationship between CAA and IAAF?</p><p>
            </p>
            <p>
                Both have Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels, but to apply for an IAAF Gold label event, it must first be a CAA Gold label event. Similarly, an IAAF Silver label event must be at least a CAA Silver label event, and so on.
            </p>
        </section>
    </section>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        <br/>
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        In addition to Gold, Silver, and Bronze labels,CAA also categorizes events into A (A1, A2) and B classes.
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: center; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
         <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/download/storage/v1/b/runboxapp-web-online.appspot.com/o/public%2F5917%2Fbc4f2518-fe8a-11e8-98e4-01679c93b0c0.jpeg!640m0?generation=1715755352173306&alt=media" alt="640-1.jpeg" style="width:100%"/>
    </p>
    <p style="margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        <br/>
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        An A1 class event certification indicates that the event's course, timing, referees, and doping tests meet the CAA's performance certification standards. An A2 class event certification indicates that the event's basic competition organization meets the CAA's management certification standards.
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        Only events with CAA A1 certification can have their results included in the CAA and IAAF marathon and related sports rankings. They can also apply for national championships and have their results recognized for national, Asian, and world records.
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        So, do marathon event certification levels affect your running circle? Absolutely! Just like how CET certificates can affect your employment.
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        <strong>——What is AIMS certification?</strong>
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        AIMS stands for Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. It sets the standard for course measurement. If an event is AIMS certified, it means the course has been measured by a qualified measurer (measurers are categorized into A, B, and C levels), ensuring the course is accurate.

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">
        IAAF Gold, Silver, and Bronze label events and AIMS certified marathons must have their courses measured by at least a B-level measurer to be recognized.
    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

    </p>
    <p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">

        <b>The difference between AIMS and IAAF:</b>AIMS focuses on course measurement and quality, while IAAF emphasizes the event's organization, course, timing, referees, etc. IAAF has Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels, while AIMS does not have levels but requires a certain history of hosting to join.
