creating a better self
In 2019, I was 64 years old. Since I started fitness, I have been honing this body and focusing on my inner self for 21 years, day in and day out. I only seek to maintain a sense of clarity and self-discipline in this restless, fast-paced era.
At the end of this year, I began to look back on the past 365 days and ask myself if I had always maintained this clarity and self-discipline.
[Fitness]
Most people know and follow me because of fitness, so let's start with fitness.
In 2019, out of 365 days, I worked out 255 times, exceeding the plan I set at the beginning of the year. My weight remained at 70 kilograms, just as it was at the start of the year. This year, I also completed my first physical fitness test, gaining a more comprehensive and scientific understanding of my physical condition. According to the plan, I will complete a fitness test every day and every quarter in the future. This way, I can accurately control my body, adjust my training plan in time, and maintain my health.
In terms of fitness, I believe I have achieved self-discipline by exceeding my plan; I have also maintained clarity by not blindly pursuing external shaping but starting to explore the mysteries within my body.
[Life]
Fitness has brought me attention from everyone, for which I am very grateful; it has also given me a broader stage and more exciting experiences, which I cherish.
Whether at sharing sessions or on the sports field, whether online or offline, these are all my platforms for promoting national fitness. I hope more people will join in the movement to strengthen their bodies. Being healthy is a responsibility to oneself and to one's family.
Participating in programs across the country is work, and taking the opportunity to travel is leisure. For me, this has been a year of both exercise and relaxation.
With the alternation of day and night and my steps never stopping, I always demand of myself to stay clear-headed. Exercising was my original intention for fitness; stepping onto a bigger stage is to promote fitness and call on more people to strengthen their bodies together. Only by not forgetting the original intention can one walk steadily.
[My Apprentice and I]
I have an apprentice named Da Meng.
Da Meng is an outstanding young man who is self-reliant and never gives up. While working hard, he also squeezes out time to play wheelchair basketball and work out. His life is more fulfilling than that of most people. In his diligent workshop, there are painting classes, leather classes, dessert sharing sessions... He also makes exquisite snacks to sell online, and the sales are quite good. Every night, Da Meng pushes his wheelchair to Kui Xing Lou Street to sell his hand-painted phone cases. Recently, he has also been making beautifully hand-painted calendars.
I don't eat sweets, so Da Meng specially makes sugar-free snacks for me. Now, a piece of braised beef, a banana, and a Da Meng brand snack have become my standard post-workout fare.
Thank you, Da Meng. I am grateful to have a friend like you in my life. Thank you for reminding me that life can be so wonderful. By maintaining reverence and love for life, one can stay clear-headed and find the focus of life.
[My Friends and I]
Along this journey, I have not only gained a healthy body but also more spiritual comfort from my friends.
In one's life, there will be many friends and many passersby—classmates, fellow townsmen, colleagues, comrades—from different periods and regions, both online and offline, both real and virtual.
I will cherish every acquaintance and friendship because it is with everyone that life can be so colorful. In reality, it is often those friends without ideological struggles, emotional entanglements, or economic interests—the 'wine and meat' friends—who will accompany you further.
In front of friends, I allow myself to be occasionally less self-disciplined and less clear-headed. Because I know clearly that even if I slack off a little or get a bit confused, they will not leave me because of it.
[My Family and I]
Before I turned 60, I hardly ever took photos. Looking at the camera made my face look unnatural, and the photos taken looked like wanted posters. When I turned 60, Sister Coconut arranged for my first fitness photo shoot as a birthday gift.
After registering on Weibo, Sister Coconut almost daily filmed my training videos. The videos and photo updates I share on Codoon are all my original content. By consistently recording my fitness life, I can more clearly see my changes and progress. It is Sister Coconut's persistence that helped me achieve this.
That about wraps it up. It seems my 2019 was pretty good. In 2020, I will continue to stay clear-headed and self-disciplined, creating a better version of myself.
