What is everyone watching at the 2020 Xiamen Marathon?
Everyone is concerned about the lottery rate!
In the 2018 Xiamen Marathon, 50,537 people registered, with a comprehensive lottery rate of 59%.
In the 2019 Xiamen Marathon, 81,073 people registered, with a comprehensive lottery rate of about 26.7%.
The 2020 Xiamen Marathon has a scale of 35,000 participants, with 65,326 men accounting for 79.5% and 16,879 women accounting for 20.5%. Among them, direct entry runners account for about 19.4% of the pre-registered participants, and the lottery rate for the remaining runners is about 28.8%.
An even more likely PB (Personal Best) course!
In 2015, Kenyan runner Moses Mosop set the best marathon time in China with a time of 2 hours, 6 minutes, and 19 seconds at the Xiamen Marathon. Since then, the Xiamen Marathon has been known as the 'fastest marathon course in China.'
To improve runners' performance and showcase the beauty of Xiamen, the Xiamen Marathon has been continuously adjusting its course. The 2020 Xiamen Marathon route has been improved based on the 2019 course, canceling sections on Hubin West Road, University Road, and Bailuzhou Road, reducing the 180-degree turns from three to two, which helps improve runners' performance.
Route details: Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center (starting point) → Huizhan Road → Huizhan South Road → Huandao East Road → Huandao South Road → Yanwu Bridge → Lujiang Avenue → Hubin South Road (turn back) → Lujiang Avenue → Yanwu Bridge → Huandao South Road → Huandao East Road (turn back) → Huizhan South Road → Huizhan Road → Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center (finish).
What's in the race kit?
This time, the race kit includes a race shirt, race bib, storage bib, pins, a clothing bag, and Xiamen Marathon custom instant noodles. Everyone is definitely most looking forward to the race shirt.
The 2020 Xiamen Marathon race shirt features an asymmetrical design, using Xiamen Marathon elements to form wing shapes, with a fresh and dynamic color scheme that brings a sense of soaring. The smooth lines add forward momentum, conveying the power of running. The diagonal position uses the track to form '2020,' which has commemorative significance and harmoniously echoes the marathon theme. The back features a gradient Xiamen Marathon label, combining fashion and athleticism. The design is available in both men's and women's styles, with the overall design and color scheme being consistent. The men's style is more powerful, while the women's style is lighter and more dynamic.
Where will you be when the five guns fire?
Due to the increase in the scale of the 2019 Xiamen Marathon to 35,000 participants, making it the largest full marathon event in China, the 2020 event will maintain this scale. Considering the large number of participants and the pressure of crowd congestion on the course, the starting guns have been increased from three to five to alleviate congestion and improve the service quality of water and beverage stations, allowing runners to perform better, improve their finish times, and experience the charm of the Xiamen Marathon.
The specific starting times are as follows:
First gun at 7:30 AM (red bib) for elite runners and A, B zone runners.
Second gun at 7:36 AM (red bib) for C, D zone runners.
Third gun at 7:42 AM (red bib) for E, F zone runners.
Fourth gun at 7:51 AM (blue bib) for G, H, J zone runners.
Fifth gun at 8:00 AM (green bib) for K zone runners.
According to the competition rules, no runners are allowed to enter the course 10 minutes after the last gun (i.e., after 8:10 AM).
What is the Women's First Marathon Plan?
To encourage more female runners to participate in marathon running, the 2020 Xiamen Marathon has set aside 500 slots for women. These slots will be drawn from female applicants who have completed a half marathon. After the first round of drawing, female runners who did not get selected but have a net time from a China Athletics Association A-level half marathon will have a chance to qualify for the 'Women's First Marathon Plan' drawing.
Is the finisher's medal attractive?
The 2020 Xiamen Marathon finisher's medal is similar to last year's, but the theme has changed from an egret to a dolphin. The medal design highlights the curves of the dolphin, symbolizing peace and Xiamen's welcoming attitude towards runners from around the world. Additionally, dolphins are seen as ambassadors of cooperation between humans and nature, representing Xiamen Marathon's long-standing commitment to environmental protection and empowering running. The center of the medal emphasizes the Xiamen Marathon logo, highlighting the marathon spirit of never stopping and striving for progress.
Can you watch the event live even if you didn't get selected?
The 2020 Xiamen Marathon will use 5G+4K live streaming for the first time. On the event day, in addition to the aerial studio used in previous years, the live broadcast will extensively use 5G network and 4K video technology, combined with low-altitude drone shooting, to present a completely different perspective from traditional aerial photography.
With high-speed, low-latency live streaming, the audience on-site and at live broadcast terminals will experience a more comprehensive, clearer, more realistic, and immersive event, providing a completely new experience that is no less than watching the event in person!
