The Nanshan Half Marathon in Shenzhen is an event that I really like.


I have participated twice, and I can say that the Shenzhen Marathon is commendable in terms of organization, atmosphere, and route. Although I didn't register this year, I still felt the excitement through my running friends.

Thanks to the surveillance in this safe city, this time the Nanshan Marathon was caught on traffic cameras with a large number of people taking shortcuts, which was quite eye-opening.In just a few dozen seconds, dozens of people crossed through. From a statistical perspective, it's hard to say this is an isolated incident. It makes one wonder, what are these people participating for?




When I saw the video, I could only think of one phrase: a mob.


'A mob' is not only an idiom but also the title of a famous book on crowd psychology.One of the concepts in the book is this:"Once a person is in a crowd, their individuality gets submerged, and both intellectual performance and moral behavior are affected."

What is unbelievable is that many of those who did these inappropriate actions later bragged about it on social media. This raises the question: is it the inherent quality of people, or do they lose themselves when they integrate into the world of social circles?


In the battle against rationality, emotions have never lost.They all seem to forget, or perhaps ignore, that what groups share is not only responsibility but also honor.Those who took shortcuts on the track might indeed be exhausted, those riding bikes might be injured, those taking a lot of race supplies might have no food at home, and those running red lights might have an urgent need. We can never see the whole picture from a partial perspective...
