exercise also needs to be eco friendly check out these biodegradable sports gear
With the rapid development of the economy, our environment is deteriorating, making environmental protection a very important issue of our time.
Therefore, many companies are starting to consider an important factor—environmental protection—when developing new products. In the development, research, and manufacturing of sports products and derivatives, there are also many innovative products with significant environmental implications.
Next, I will share with you some new biodegradable products.
'Gone' is an eco-friendly nutritional supplement with biodegradable packaging designed specifically for athletes, eliminating concerns about environmental pollution.
Most disposable products made or packaged with synthetic plastics can be redesigned using bioplastics. In Wright's latest release, bioplastics serve as containers for energy gels, a type of nutritional supplement commonly used in endurance sports like running or cycling.
Most existing energy gel products are packaged in plastic-coated foil, whereas 'Gone' allows athletes to discard the packaging without worrying about negative environmental impacts. The packaging can be thrown directly onto the roadside and will degrade within a few days due to rain and soil microorganisms. Experiments have shown that this material does not affect the pH value of surrounding water sources even if discarded directly into water.
Helmets are consumables that are typically discarded after a single impact. Most helmets on the market are made of non-degradable foam plastic, which hardens over time. For safety reasons, helmets should be replaced every two years even if they show no cracks. These discarded helmets become stubborn, non-degradable waste that does not decompose for a long time when buried.
Giro's helmet, the Giro Silo, innovates in its materials by using environmentally friendly, biodegradable 'corn plastic' that is harmless to humans. The helmet, from its plastic shell to the buckle and coconut fiber straps, is made entirely of biodegradable materials.
The renowned sports goods manufacturer Adidas has always been keen on environmental themes. Previously, they launched a fully biodegradable eco-friendly running shoe made from a material with strength similar to synthetic spider silk, fully embodying Adidas's environmental philosophy.
The prototype of this running shoe is called Futurecraft Biofabric, the first running shoe made entirely from Biosteel fibers. This material, from AMSilk, is fully biodegradable.
However, having eco-friendly properties does not mean poor quality. In fact, Biosteel fiber is a very strong material made from 100% natural materials. Additionally, it has the significant advantage of being 15% lighter than other synthetic fibers.
Besides Adidas, other sports brands like Nike, Puma, and Reebok have also launched products made from recyclable or biodegradable materials.
Nike's Nike Grind material is made by recycling existing products and materials. Currently, 71% of Nike's footwear and apparel products use this material.
As early as 2013, Puma launched the InCycle product line, which includes biodegradable and recyclable products. Puma's basketball T-shirt from this line is fully degradable.
Reebok has also introduced an eco-friendly concept shoe with an upper made of organic cotton and a sole made from industrial corn.
More and more sports brands are focusing on 'green and eco-friendly' products. Although some of these efforts may be more hype than substance, it is ultimately positive that major brands are willing to contribute to environmental protection. We all hope to see a more beautiful Earth!
