Review Notes:
1. This review only pertains to firmware version V1.2.
2. Due to individual differences, my exercise heart rate may be higher than that of many excellent runners.
Codoon Smart Heart Rate Bracelet—another star product in the Codoon smart family, upholding Codoon's consistent high quality. I am fortunate to participate in this review and will strive to provide a detailed and comprehensive evaluation from multiple angles.
I. Packaging and Appearance
1. Packaging
The bracelet comes in a hard paper box with dimensions approximately 10CM*8CM*4CM. It is sturdy, pressure-resistant, and compact.
2. Appearance
The bracelet consists of the main body, wristband, and charger. The main body can be easily embedded into the wristband for installation. The recessed area below the screen is a touch key, and the charger uses a clip design.
The color of the bracelet I reviewed is graphite black, which is elegant, simple, and stylish. It is suitable for both business and sports settings, for both men and women, without any sense of discord. It definitely meets the discerning eyes of those who value aesthetics.
II. Wearing
The wristband material is soft and odorless, fitting well on wrists of all sizes and providing comfortable wear. The buckle design at the end of the wristband prevents the bracelet from loosening and falling off.
III. Functions
Although the Codoon Smart Heart Rate Bracelet is small in size, it has a large capacity. It lights up when you raise your wrist and covers various aspects of life and exercise.
1. Seamless Connection with Codoon APP
Please download the Codoon APP before use.
When you first start the bracelet, a QR code will appear on the screen. Scan it with the Codoon APP to connect the bracelet with the Codoon APP.
If you need to rebind after unbinding the Codoon APP, restore the bracelet to factory settings to retrieve the QR code and scan to bind.
2. Life Functions
The bracelet, combined with the Codoon APP, can provide comprehensive monitoring and recording of various aspects of life. The bracelet screen uses a color display, which is pleasing to the eye and dynamic.
The bracelet can display: time, exercise data (steps, distance, calories), heart rate, weather, message reminders, and factory reset.
The Codoon APP can set: message notifications, call reminders, sedentary reminders, alarms, heart rate monitoring, etc.
3. Exercise Functions
The bracelet, in conjunction with the Codoon APP, can also provide various exercise data.
Start the exercise mode through the Codoon APP, and the bracelet will vibrate to remind you, with the screen indicating that the exercise is about to begin.
During exercise (e.g., running), the bracelet screen will display the current distance, time, and pace (steps for walking). Touch the button to switch the screen to display heart rate (detailed testing and introduction of heart rate will follow). With this function, you can turn off the Codoon APP's voice broadcast during running, avoiding the awkward stares from passersby when the voice suddenly starts, whether you are a pro or a novice.
During exercise, long press the touch key to pause the exercise, and long press again to stop the exercise. The Codoon APP will also pause or stop the exercise. After finishing, the bracelet screen will display the exercise data: distance, time, pace, average heart rate, etc., making it clear without checking your phone.
4. Waterproof and Battery Life
From my experience, it can be worn normally while washing hands or face. The official recommendation is not to wear it during bathing or swimming.
Regarding battery life, the official data provided is 11 days. I fully charged it on the evening of November 30, which took less than an hour. By the evening of December 4, the battery was still at 50%. Due to testing, the power consumption should be higher than normal use. It is estimated that the theoretical data matches the official claim.
IV. Heart Rate
1. Settings
The heart rate function is the focus of this bracelet and a key concern for both users and myself. I will test and review it in detail.
First, enter the bracelet interface on the Codoon APP, click 'Set Heart Rate Zone,' click 'Update,' select the appropriate mode, and enter 'Next.' Correctly set personal information: age, height, weight. To ensure the accuracy of heart rate data, be sure to fill in correctly.
The following image shows my heart rate settings. From the image, you can see that the heart rate is divided into several levels corresponding to different exercise intensities, marked with different colors from 'green' to 'red.' During exercise, the exercise data and heart rate backlight will change with the heart rate, providing a clear and intuitive indication of the heart rate zone. Although a small idea, it reflects the designer's attention to detail and is commendable.
2. Testing
☆ Static Heart Rate
I tested with both the bracelet and a home blood pressure monitor, and the results were almost identical.
☆ Running Heart Rate
I tested in different locations based on my own situation. Considering individual differences, my exercise heart rate should be higher than that of excellent runners.
The first 12-kilometer test was conducted on the Pudong Riverside section, with an estimated pace of 6 minutes 30 seconds, and an actual pace of 6 minutes 29 seconds. This pace is moderate for me and can be maintained relatively easily. However, due to the many slopes and turns on this route, coupled with the hot weather (sunny, 21°C at noon), the run was not very easy, with an average heart rate of 163.
The second 10-kilometer test was conducted at a nearby middle school track, which is flat with a rubber track, about 250 meters per lap. The weather was cloudy to overcast, 20°C at noon. The estimated pace was 6 minutes, and the actual pace was 5 minutes 51 seconds. This pace is not easy for me and requires effort and perseverance, with an average heart rate of 168.
Based on my experience, I believe both heart rate tests are valuable and credible.
☆ Walking Heart Rate
I tested at different paces, around 12 minutes and 10 minutes per kilometer. For me, a 12-minute pace is equivalent to normal walking, with the heart rate expected to be in the warm-up zone. A 10-minute pace requires a faster walk, with the heart rate expected to be in the aerobic zone. To ensure a stable heart rate, I chose routes without traffic lights.
The 12-minute pace test had an actual pace of 12 minutes 3 seconds, with an average heart rate of 96, which is in the warm-up heart rate zone, meeting expectations.
The 10-minute pace test had an actual pace of 10 minutes 25 seconds, with the heart rate mostly in the aerobic zone, with an average heart rate of 114.
I noticed that the two small heart rate peaks occurred when climbing slopes and crossing bridges, and the bracelet performed perfectly.
In summary, the Codoon Smart Heart Rate Bracelet performed excellently in monitoring heart rate during walking tests.
V. Fitness Courses
Fitness courses are specially designed by Codoon for heart rate devices, creating a home gym experience. Users of heart rate devices (including bracelets) can enjoy real-time interactive professional guidance at home, correcting wrong fitness moves, enhancing fitness effects, and reducing exercise injuries.
1. Related Training Courses
Codoon offers multiple courses to choose from. Open the bracelet interface in the Codoon APP, scroll down to find the course list, click to enter, and join the training to work out with excellent coaches.
Real-time heart rate display allows you to better understand your physical condition and see effective heart rate zones, making fat burning more efficient. At the same time, voice reminders correct incorrect fitness moves and count effective repetitions, just like having a coach by your side, caring for your health.
2. Codoon LIVE Broadcast Courses
Codoon invites top coaches to offer different training courses at different times. Book a course, enter the live room on time, and the participant's heart rate and calories burned are displayed in real-time in front of the coach. Participants can also communicate online via text and voice, just like face-to-face with a top coach.
As a reviewer of the bracelet, I personally experienced two courses over the weekend. On the right side of the screen, you can see the participant's time, calories burned, real-time heart rate, and calorie consumption leaderboard. Of course, these data are also clear to the coach.
The first class was 'Comprehensive Fat Burning Training' by Coach Wu Han. Possibly because it was my first time participating, I received special attention from the coach and was frequently mentioned. I finished the training with the top spot on the leaderboard. The humor and approachability of the coaches were evident.
The second class was 'Comprehensive Fat Burning Training' by Coach Arui. Since the first class ended not long before, I was too tired to continue and became a quiet observer.
The fitness course experience was great, with good creativity, excellent coaches, and powerful smart products. Fantastic!
The Codoon Smart Heart Rate Bracelet provides timely, accurate, and reliable heart rate monitoring data.
VI. Summary
1. Objective Evaluation
The Codoon Smart Heart Rate Bracelet is a high-quality product with high aesthetics, diverse functions, accurate heart rate monitoring, and rich fitness courses. It can not only serve as a good companion for daily life recording exercise and monitoring heart rate but also rely on the powerful platform of the Codoon APP for professional guidance and scientific fitness, making exercise more efficient and visible fat burning. Highly recommended!!!
2. Suggestions and Improvements (only for firmware version V1.2 reviewed)
☆ The time interface only shows the current time. It would be better to add the date and day of the week.
☆ The bracelet currently uses a wrist-raise to light up the screen, which consumes a lot of power. Since not every wrist-raise is to check the bracelet, it is recommended to add a switch for users to choose freely.
☆ During exercise, switching between exercise data and heart rate requires manually touching the button, which is inconvenient and affects exercise safety. It is recommended to add a wrist-flip screen switch function.
☆ The firmware version V1.2 I reviewed does not have a sleep monitoring function. It is recommended to add this in future firmware updates for more comprehensive health care.
☆ The current charger uses a clip design, which is a bit large and takes up space. Charging is not very convenient. It is recommended to adopt a magnetic design like the Codoon Smart Watch, which is compact and convenient.
