come i lead you run out a love
Editor's Note:Some say that love is a long marathon, but I think running is more like a series of varied romances. You can see the myriad faces of love through running. Once you understand running, you become a love guru. As March comes to an end, let's follow the city's lead runners in this first issue and embark on a spontaneous love run.[Surprise at the end!]
The All-Round Couple: Let Love Ferment Through Running
@ Jason-yipMy wife and I were college classmates. We were both shining stars on stage back then. She was in the school's ballroom dance team, and I was in the aerobics team. We trained in the same studio and gradually got to know and love each other.
Looking through our Codoon exercise records, you can actually see our love story through running. Almost every run was at the same time. We ran in Olympic Forest Park, strolled under streetlights, weaved through crowds on the school track, and stretched together under the morning sun. Even at home, we had our own yoga mats side by side for stretching and planking. We signed up for triathlons and marathons together. The moment she crossed the finish line, I felt our lives had become more exciting because of running. Later, taking photos and sharing them became a theme. In 2016, we got married and honeymooned in Saipan, running together amidst its beautiful scenery.
Love is like running. We got to know each other (accidentally stumbled into this sport), passion carried us through the initial phase (first marathon in Shanghai), misunderstandings and minor quarrels (like minor ankle and knee pains) gradually stabilized, leading us to marriage. What awaits us is a longer journey (scientific training, running posture, data comparison, heart rate adjustment, and longer marathons). We will continue running, just as we will continue to cherish our love.
Love in the War Zone: Running in Iraq, We Stand by Each Other
@ Derrick taoThis is actually an ordinary life, but because of the unique circumstances of this country, our lives felt different. In 2011, I braved the sandstorms and war to come to Iraq, leaving the comfort of the campus track behind.
In 2013, she also came to this war-torn country. The courage of Sanmao in the Sahara Desert inspired her to come to Iraq. In this foreign land, where we couldn't go out easily due to safety concerns, we found solace in one thing: running together. We enjoyed a yogurt 'feast' after our runs. In Balad, we ran around the slightly flat sandy areas near construction sites. She accompanied me, a 98-kilogram man, on my weight loss journey. Initially, my inner thighs chafed painfully, and my legs were sore for a long time. The pain made me want to give up, but I persevered for the sake of losing weight. My girlfriend went from running three kilometers daily to successfully challenging ten kilometers one day. When I saw the scale showing my weight dropping below 75 kilograms, we looked at each other, smiling and hugging.
The beauty of running lies in overcoming what initially seemed impossible. The beauty of love is that after all the experiences, the person you love is still by your side. When you look down, you see her, and her eyes are full of you. Running together every day and loving each other is my greatest happiness.
My Lover, Called Running
@whoopingFeelings often develop during the most difficult and vulnerable times. I'm fortunate to have a loyal companion in my middle age, and this companion is called running.
At the end of 2012, I injured my knee, causing a meniscus tear in my left knee. For over a year, I couldn't straighten my left leg and had difficulty walking. Surgery was the only option, and it would recur every two to three years without a permanent cure. By chance, I entered a gym and learned the principle of 'use it or lose it.' Under the guidance of a coach, I began rehabilitation training. After more than four months, I went from being unable to do a single push-up to being able to do 60 push-ups in a minute. It was then that my coach suggested I try running.
So, I bravely took the first step and began my love affair with running. Running, my lover, has a unique charm that makes my heart race and captivates me. It gives me immense strength to overcome difficulties, accompanies me in measuring the world with my feet, and makes me more optimistic. In a year, I went from a novice to a level 4 runner, with Codoon recording every bit of my journey.
People often say they admire my perseverance. But it's not perseverance that drives me; it's genuine love. Just like being with someone you love, you never find time dragging. You eagerly anticipate every date with them.
Gradually, I realized I couldn't live without running. Occasionally, due to weather or travel, my running schedule would be disrupted, making me feel uneasy. But once I put on my running shoes and ran to the beat of energetic music on familiar tracks, I felt 'alive' again. I'm grateful to my lover, running, for giving me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the joy of a child. With running by my side, I am content.
Running is a pure yet complex activity, and love is an ordinary yet great emotion. On Codoon, some have had a spectacular love affair through running, while others have made running their lifelong lover. What about you? Is your running love story happening?
