dont have a princess complex prove my royalty on the track
@Gege168, a typical northern girl who grew up in Ice City, ranked in the top ten of the fourth Running Girl competition (Click to predict the Running Girl champion).
She comes from a military family, and the resilience in her bones has built her strong personality. She is serious in her work, sincere in her dealings with others, and treats the people and things around her with a grateful heart.
From a young age, Gege learned calligraphy, guzheng, painting, singing, embroidery, reading, and baking. Although she had many hobbies, none of them could sustain her dream of continuous progress. She used to give the impression of a quiet and elegant lady, but after she started running, she discovered that being still was not her true nature; being active was her real self.
In 2015, I had trouble sleeping, and a friend suggested that I exert more physical energy during the day to sleep better at night. So I chose running, a sport that only requires a pair of shoes and a road. Initially, I felt awkward and experienced slight pain in my ankles and knees. 'I can't fix my sleep only to hurt my feet,' I thought. To run safely, I began reading books to learn relevant knowledge. For the first two months, I adapted by walking briskly before resuming running, and a metronome helped me control my running pace.
Running is free, but it can also be lonely and monotonous. To make running more enjoyable, I downloaded music that matched my running pace at different stages, which, along with the metronome, helped me train for fast, medium, and slow runs. With music, my runs became dynamic and joyful.
Like all novice runners, I initially struggled to run a few kilometers and often felt like giving up, treating it like a task to complete. To persist, I downloaded Codoon to track my running performance. Each time I earned a medal, I felt a sense of accomplishment, like a child receiving a gold star. The app also provided comprehensive running knowledge, teaching me about pacing, steady running, interval training, and appropriate training methods for different stages. I found a local running group through the app and joined them. From initially lagging behind to eventually leading the group, from not knowing how to stretch to guiding others, from running aimlessly to organizing and helping others, I made gradual progress.
From then on, my runs were no longer lonely, and I truly began my running journey.
After falling in love with running, I realized it wasn't as simple as it seemed. There were many aspects to study and practice. From initially running five kilometers to completing my first ten kilometers, my enthusiasm grew, and my desire to run increased. Running became more enjoyable and addictive. This invisible force improved my overall well-being, and most importantly, I no longer suffered from insomnia. I felt energetic and vibrant every day. My goals expanded to include training for half marathons and even full marathons, thinking, 'One should always have dreams; what if they come true?'
Two months into running, I completed my first online half marathon with two friends. Although I felt exhausted, I was excited. With this experience, I started participating in various races to improve myself. Like all marathon enthusiasts, I longed for a real, on-the-ground race, not for the ranking but for the personal challenge.
Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanshan, Bao'an, Longgang, Dapeng, Nanjing Women's, Qingdao, Zhaoqing, Xiqiao Mountain, Dongguan, Qingyuan, Dali (34th place in women's category), Jilin (pacer), Liupanshui Marathon... Ma Luan Mountain Trail, Guanlan Lake Trail, Maofeng Mountain Trail (9th place in women's category), Feixia Mountain Trail (12th place in women's category), Longji Terraces Trail (14th place)... With a learning mindset, I participated in various marathons, from half to full, striving, persisting, and joyfully running, challenging what seemed impossible to me.
I love the feeling on the race track. Each race excites me. It's been three years since my first marathon, and I still treat every race like my first. Running makes me feel like a happy little rabbit, joyfully weaving through the crowd, being the happy protagonist of my story. I relish the exhilarating sensation of the wind and the freedom it brings. The cheers and encouragement from the spectators along the track fuel my runs. During these joyful runs, I appreciate the beautiful scenery of each track and share happy moments with my friends, feeling very content.
After falling in love with running, I became more independent and courageous. Running not only strengthens my body but also keeps my mind clear. It has taught me self-discipline and perseverance. I will continue to run through life's journey, come rain or shine. Running happily and finishing safely, without blindly pursuing speed, running comfortably according to my condition. Over three years, I've experienced the cultural atmosphere of each place and enjoyed the land of every race track.
Life is like a marathon where the finish line doesn't matter. The pace is always in your hands, and you need to keep running to meet the ever-evolving version of yourself along the way.
Now I have another 'what if it comes true' dream—to run around the world, sometimes combining travel with running for a joyful journey. I want to make running my key to exploring the world, opening mysterious doors, continuously learning, and enjoying the process.
