because youre already here should you just roll with it
In everyone's life, there are always some unavoidable four-character mantras that leave you momentarily 'speechless,' then 'sorrowful,' and finally force you to 'step up.'
“Since we're already here” is one such magicalfour-character... maxim..
Why do we say this?
Because I'm sure you've experienced it:
Waiting for a bus on a snowy/rainy day for half an hour, thinking 'if I give up now, the bus might come in less than 5 minutes, so I'll keep waiting';
Waiting for a meal at a grand opening sale from 4 PM to past 8 PM, thinking 'I considered going somewhere else around 6 PM, but since I'm already here and have waited so long, and the discounts are so great, I'll keep waiting';
Going on a trip happily, only to find the tourist spot crowded with people, thinking 'since we're already here, and we've bought the tickets and spent money on travel and accommodation, it would be a waste to leave now'...
Because 'since we're already here,' should we 'go along with it'?
@Eighty-Eight Nights Tea Picking:On the first day of my diet, I ran for over forty minutes, did a 30-minute workout at home, and danced the pelvic dance (which I couldn't do at the time, looking a bit like Donald Duck walking). My whole body was so sore I couldn't sleep. The next day, when the alarm rang at six, I wanted to stay in bed, but ended up crying and decided to persist... Now, I've become a fitness enthusiast with a slim figure and flat muscles on my stomach.They say sweat doesn't lie, spread the word, spread the word.)
@Windows XP:This year's Xi'an Marathon, I had a severe cold, hit the wall at 35km, but still managed to finish the race.Honestly, your name should be Luck! But next time, you might not be so lucky.)
@Le Yi9:One day last winter, I planned to go for a walk. As soon as I stepped out, it started to snow lightly. I hesitated but decided to keep going. Life is like this too; since we're in this world, we must overcome all obstacles and face the wind and waves.Such positive energy and an optimistic attitude towards life are truly admirable, but I still want to ask, what happened next?)
@Ah Ye57920352:In a half marathon this March, I had my period for over ten days with heavy flow, and there was a level six wind. It was still raining during the assembly. Ten minutes before the start, the rain stopped, so I decided to run with the mindset that I could always stop after 10km and get on the support vehicle. But it started raining again on the way, luckily I had an umbrella with me...Glad your period didn't abandon you afterward, amen.)
@Soybean1152629712:Got up early, went to the gym, eyes hurting from sleepiness, thought 'since I'm already here,' forced myself to play a dozen rounds of King of Glory.Getting up early to go to the gym and then playing games to wake up? You live quite a refined life.)
@Wang Ning57:Signed up for my first half marathon online, thinking I could drink water halfway, so I packed a water bottle in my backpack. When I started running, I realized the backpack was bouncing with every step. I spent the first two kilometers figuring out how to fix it. I thought about quitting but then remembered it was my first marathon, so I had to persist. Finally, in the last two kilometers, I found a solution by holding the shoulder straps in front of my chest to keep the backpack from bouncing. I ran the whole race like that.You experienced Yang Guo's exercise life; maybe you'll meet Xiao Longnu at the next corner, hehe.)
@Banxia3655:Since we're already here, let's have a drink before we go, don't waste it.Then one drink led to another, and another...)
@Betty_S-Z:Last year, I flew to Medan for the New Year. The locals rarely spoke English. I took a bus, passing by dilapidated houses with a few incandescent lights hanging in front. After a long journey from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, I was ready to fly to Medan, only to find out I could only buy a standing ticket... Sigh, my first time standing on a plane, traveling all day.First time hearing about standing tickets on a plane, you really went all out for your planned trip. I'd love to see a picture.)
@Dongdong King Called Me to Patrol the Mountains:Once the bow is drawn, there's no turning back. (So touching! Such concise writing, with just seven words capturing the essence of 'since we're already here'!The precision and appropriateness of the words make one empathize, bringing tears to the eyes and silent weeping! Such exquisite writing is truly admirable!—I swear on my conscience, the above words are all heartfelt!)
@Winnie_-:At a New Year's marathon, I had a cold, a fever, continuous overtime, no training due to overtime, and my period. A friend said, 'It's cool when it rains! A fever is no problem! A cold is no problem! No training is fine!' Since we had planned to run together and bought the tickets, I thought I might as well try. The night before, hearing the rain outside the hotel made me scared, thinking life was unbearable... In the end, I thought 'since we're already here,' and ran the whole race in a raincoat. Looking back, I'm glad someone pushed me to decide, and I have many beautiful memories from the journey.Oh, hindsight! You probably wanted to 'kill' that friend at the time, didn't you? I bet a pack of spicy strips on it!)
@A Crescent Moon Reflects Three Stars:Went to Dalian with my wife, took a taxi to Lushun Port, and the driver dropped us at a small pier. We saw only a few people playing on a not-so-clean small beach. Then a group of people ran over and said, 'Bro, take a speedboat, it can get you to Lushun Port.' Since we're already here, we might as well go to the port, right? I silently thanked the taxi driver lady.Are you sure you were genuinely thankful? No eye-rolling?), and we had a great time on the speedboat.
@ZengLh on the Road:Chengdu Double Heritage Marathon, my first marathon, and it rained. I thought 'since we're already here,' let's run! Running in the rain felt pretty good.I hope you genuinely enjoyed running in the rain and weren't just faking a smile.)
@Run, Little Ying:Since we're already here, with thunder and lightning and pouring rain, I still finished the half marathon, but my phone was completely soaked.It's lucky Thor didn't take you home as his bride; don't be so foolish next time!)
@Bearing~YX~TS:Started off with good weather. After one kilometer, a blizzard and strong wind hit. I gritted my teeth and kept going despite the wind and snow. After more than 20 kilometers, my body didn't warm up, and my clothes froze. Luckily, I kept breathing warm air, otherwise...Wake up, do you really think you're stronger than nature?)
@How Far Can My Passion Run:Who hasn't gone through tears and compromises... (That short ellipsis covers so much pain and hardship, we understand you, brother bear!)
@Glacier925:Running in the snow, cold rain slapping my face.Stop singing, besides the previous water in your brain, it seems you also collected a lot of water this time.)
Finally, let's summarize all the 'luck and misfortune' with a friend's words:
@248_Qingfang:Every true runner has a strong little heart.
Actually, 'since we're already here' isn't a big deal; we don't have to 'go along with it,' because we can still 'leave whenever we want'!
Sincewe're already here, are you sure you don't want to leave a comment before you go?
* Whether it's 'since we're already here' or 'leave whenever we want,' as long as you don't regret it, we all have it.
