craft red label thermal underwear makes winter exercise more comfortable
Training in the coldest days of winter and the hottest days of summer, the distance you run is not important; what matters is persistence. In the cold winter, I believe you also need a Craft Red Label to protect you on your training journey!
When the courier handed me the box, I initially thought he had made a mistake. Instead of the expected courier bag, it was a small cardboard box. Opening it, I was pleasantly surprised. There was no overly fancy packaging, just a matte black box with a drawer design that showcased its uniqueness. The absence of plastic packaging reflects a low-carbon, eco-friendly concept.
The top of the packaging box is equipped with a pull rope for easy extraction and carrying.
The bottom of the packaging box has a Chinese quality certificate, which helps English-challenged people like me better understand the product attributes. (The Craft bib cycling shorts I used before had packaging entirely in English...)
Very satisfied with the packaging (★★★★★)
Basic Information: Height 178cm / Weight 72kg
Product Reviewed: Craft Red Label Crew Neck Long Sleeve Shirt
Size: 175/100A (M)
Fit Experience: I personally prefer a slim fit for sports base layers. I usually buy size M for other brands. Based on the size chart and Tmall customer service recommendations, I also chose size M for this base layer. However, this base layer runs large. Due to my insufficient muscle mass, it didn't fit snugly around my neck, and the sleeves were long enough. I estimate that size S would fit perfectly.
Fairly satisfied with the fit (★★★★☆)
Honeycomb Thickened Weave
No thickening under the armpits for better breathability
Close-up of the cuffs, comfortable and snug
Seamless weaving on the back and hem
As a base layer, it's not often worn outside. The shirt only has a dark-colored logo on the neck, with no other patterns, which makes it look a bit plain. I suggest changing the Craft lettering to a brighter color to enhance its appearance and brand recognition during indoor activities like gym workouts.
Fairly satisfied with the appearance (★★★★☆)
Craft Recommended Temperature Range:
(1) Cycling Performance Review
Test Route: Northern Xi'an ~ Bailuyuan ~ Lantian ~ Northern Xi'an, all on asphalt roads
Test Outfit:
Upper Body (from inside to outside) — Craft Red Label Crew Neck Long Sleeve Shirt — Captain Windproof Thermal Jacket
Lower Body (from inside to outside) — Santic Bib Cycling Shorts — Decathlon Fleece Training Tights — Captain Windproof Thermal Pants
Function Experience:
This shirt is recommended for temperatures between -35℃ and 0℃. Although the Moji Weather app showed a minimum temperature of -3℃, the bike computer measured -6℃ on Bailuyuan and during the descent, which is within the recommended range. Initially, I felt a bit cold when I went out, but after starting to exercise, the cold quickly disappeared. During the first 30km of warm-up riding in the city, I didn't feel cold at all, demonstrating its excellent thermal retention. When I reached Bailuyuan and started climbing, the increased intensity tested its sweat-wicking and breathability. It didn't disappoint; there was no sticky feeling like with regular base layers, and the sweat-wicking and breathability were ideal.
After high-intensity climbing, I was sweating a lot. Upon reaching the top and continuing to ride for about 30km, my upper body was almost dry without feeling cold, unlike my lower body, which still felt slightly damp, showcasing the shirt's quick-drying capability.
During the 5km descent, my hands were so cold that I questioned my life choices, but the Red Label's thermal retention kept me from getting cold on the way down.
(2) Running Performance Review
Test Location: School Track
Test Outfit:
Upper Body (from inside to outside) — Craft Red Label Crew Neck Long Sleeve Shirt — Camel Fleece-Lined Jacket
Lower Body (from inside to outside) — Decathlon Fleece Training Tights — Anta Sports Pants
The outdoor temperature was around 4℃. During the warm-up phase, I still wore the fleece jacket. After running two laps, my body started to warm up. I took off the fleece jacket and immediately felt a chill, but after running a few dozen meters, the cold disappeared. After a 15km jog, I found the thermal retention and breathability to be significantly better than the fleece pants I wore on my lower body.
Overall Satisfaction (★★★★★)
Thermal Retention ★★★★★
Breathability ★★★★☆
Quick-Drying Capability ★★★★★
Sweat-Wicking Capability ★★★★★
Based on my actual wearing experience, I believe this base layer's design is top-notch, with excellent performance, especially in thermal retention and quick-drying. However, the main issue is its price, which is not very student-friendly. As a student, I currently can't afford it, but I highly recommend it to professional users who can.
