beauty and functionality combined salomon sonic
Salomon, a global top outdoor sports brand founded in 1947 in the heart of the French Alps, designs and manufactures various top-notch professional shoes, clothing, backpacks, and skiing equipment. I first came across Salomon in a trail running post on a running forum. I've been running consistently for over two years, and although I only started marathons in 2015, it was after reading Huang Cheng's 'Running 332 Kilometers' that I began to pay attention to trail running. Gradually, I got to know the French brand Salomon. This time, I was fortunate to be selected for a review activity by Codoon, which feels like a fateful connection with Salomon!
Currently, the Salomon Sonic road running shoes include the S-LAB SONIC 2, SONIC, SONIC PRO 2, and SONIC AERO. As a marathon runner, a pair of comfortable running shoes is particularly important. The Sonic series created by Salomon is born for marathon elite runners. Here, I will review the Salomon Sonic, a city marathon running shoe.
I love the Salomon Sonic for its non-exaggerated mesh upper design. The vibrant color and fashionable design, combined with functionality, make it my favorite. Opening the package, a splash of purple greets me. The shoe uses three different upper materials in various parts to meet the needs for breathability, comfort, and durability. I pay particular attention to the design of the shoe toe. The anti-collision design of the toe not only protects the shoe but also our toes, effectively preventing toe injuries. Its logo, featuring a large 'S' as the core element, represents the Salomon brand.
The main color scheme is purple, with a bright red sole. In terms of color matching, it doesn't lose to the little red shoes, and its appearance is quite impressive.
The Sonic's outsole uses CONTAGRIP material, providing anti-slip and wear-resistant properties during running, offering sufficient grip. Through a combination of geometric distribution, physical density, and synthetic formulas, it showcases the shoe's lasting grip. The Sonic's upper features a breathable mesh design, ensuring high breathability and effectively wicking away sweat and moisture. This is especially important for marathon runners whose feet sweat, providing excellent ventilation for the feet.
The heel part of the shoe has good wrapping and support, fully wrapping the heel and lower ankle. Sufficient wrapping and support ensure the foot is fixed, effectively preventing sprains and providing ample protection for the ankle.
After putting on the shoes, I found that the heel part has good wrapping, fully wrapping the heel and lower ankle. Sufficient wrapping can effectively prevent sprains, providing good protection for the ankle. The side of the shoe uses SENSIFIT patch technology, with reflective strips printed on it. The rear SONIC English logo is also reflective. The reflective strips play a good warning role during night runs, increasing safety. From this point of view, the manufacturer is quite considerate.
After testing for five kilometers, the shoe's feel is quite good—light and stable, making it a good choice for runners.
The Sonic's laces are not the elastic quick-lacing type used in trail shoes but are flat-designed. Of course, both types of laces have their pros and cons. Quick laces are more suitable for the impact of different terrains in trail running. The flat lace design reduces pressure on the instep, preventing swelling during long road runs and enhancing comfort. The three-dimensional fit provides comfortable support, offering an all-around comfortable fit experience and support for the feet. Continuous rebound and effective shock absorption make it suitable for marathon enthusiasts. The only difference is that this is a road running shoe, suitable for asphalt roads, stone steps, and other urban surfaces.
The Sonic always provides good and stable wrapping and support for my feet, without causing discomfort to the toes or other parts due to changes in road conditions. The sole consistently maintains its comfortable shock absorption and rebound. As a road running shoe, it needs rigid and strong protection, making the foot feel relatively hard. The Sonic is fully positioned as a city road running shoe in its promotional materials, ensuring quick feedback while maintaining elasticity, allowing the feet to alternate naturally. The impact on speed and the performance and comfort during long-distance and speed training will need to be accumulated through future use.
After all, nothing in the world is perfect. Flaws motivate technological progress. Advantages: 1. Comfortable palm-like wrapping, obvious road feedback, excellent details, and solid workmanship. 2. Overall weight is not heavy, but it doesn't feel cumbersome after adjusting the running posture. 3. Bright and vivid color scheme, more recognizable, durable, and dirt-resistant. If the anti-slip performance on stone surfaces could be improved, it would be perfect. If the laces could be like those of the little red shoes with quick-lacing and segmented tightening functions, it would fit the foot better. Durability also depends on each runner's mileage and running posture. This review is heartfelt, and I am very grateful to Codoon for providing this review opportunity. Runners can exchange experiences, and I am thankful to Codoon. May Codoon get better and better!
