Product Name: uvex sportstyle 116
Product Features: Red frame (multiple lenses)
Triathlons, cycling, marathons, and outdoor activities are no longer just for professional athletes. These activities have gradually become popular among the general public, becoming an irreplaceable passion that brings both pain and joy. Founded in 1926 and headquartered in Germany, uvex is where the world's first safety goggles were born. The brand name uvex originates from its UV protection technology, a name that has been used ever since.
The needs of athletes are the core design principle of uvex sports eyewear:
Protection – UV isolation, impact resistance;
Clear Vision – Suitable light transmission, anti-fog, wide field of view, true-to-life without distortion;
Comfort and Durability – No airflow interference, no pressure, no slipping, scratch-resistant, easy to clean, and water, sweat, and dirt can be wiped off easily.
I was very fortunate to receive the uvex sportstyle 116 for review through the Codoon platform. As a cycling and running enthusiast, I face various weather conditions when I go out. Therefore, our requirements for gear are becoming increasingly high and professional. A single pair of sports glasses or a single lens can no longer meet our needs. The uvex sportstyle 116 I received for review comes with one frame and three interchangeable lenses, offering multiple choices for different scenarios.
Unboxing the white outer packaging box, I opened the black glasses case inside. The inside of the case has a thin layer of velvet, and quietly lying there was a pair of red-framed glasses:
I couldn't resist starting the review immediately:
Sunny Day Test: Temperature 32°C
Test Time: 12:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Today, under the autumn sun, I tested the uvex sportstyle 116 with the dazzling lenses. I went cycling at noon when the sun was at its peak. Wearing the uvex sportstyle 116, the clarity was such that it didn't feel like there was a lens in front of my eyes. The dazzling lenses enhanced the colors of the objects outside, making everything I saw more vibrant. UVEX incorporates UV isolation technology into the lens material, effectively blocking UVA, UVB, and UVC rays, allowing you to enjoy the scenery without fear of strong light.
Cloudy Day Test: Temperature 30°C
Test Time: 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
SO: With a light transmission rate of 80%-100%, the transparent lenses are recommended for use in low light or nighttime environments. Today, it was cloudy, and I didn't choose the yellow lenses but went with the transparent ones instead. Since I was cycling on our local forest greenway, which is shaded and cool, the transparent lenses appropriately increased the clarity of the objects in front of me and effectively blocked insects coming towards me during outdoor activities.
Partly Cloudy to Overcast Test: Temperature 23°C
Test Time: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
S1: With a light transmission rate of 48%-80%, I tested the three lenses on different dates to better understand the visual sensitivity and to highlight the quality of the uvex sportstyle 116. The S1 yellow lenses are brightness-enhancing lenses that optimize brightness and enhance visual contrast. Even when it turned partly cloudy to overcast later, my field of vision remained bright, and the objects I saw were very clear.
Another highlight I discovered with the uvex sportstyle 116 is the adjustable soft nose pad, which can be adjusted according to the height of your nose bridge. This design is very considerate. As someone with a low nose bridge, my glasses always slide down, but the adjustable soft nose pad completely solves this problem. Unlike other glasses, it doesn't leave marks on the nose bridge. The ends of the temples are specially made with soft material. During a 5-hour uphill cycling session, the glasses didn't feel heavy, and there was no friction or discomfort behind my ears. The only issue is that the bottom of the lenses curves inward, and as someone with a wide face, the ends of the lenses slightly press against my cheekbones, but it doesn't cause any discomfort.
Summary of Insights:
I hope my review report can provide reference value for sports enthusiasts when choosing and purchasing glasses. I believe that the uvex photochromic sports glasses, which can meet the needs of multi-scenario sports in complex environments, will bring a surprising experience to sports enthusiasts. Additionally, I hope uvex can improve the packaging of the multiple lenses, as the plastic film packaging bag doesn't offer strong protection for the lenses. They could also include a cleaning cloth for the glasses.
