bimai 42k running shoes not racing enjoy the marathon process
When the shoes arrived, I was at the Dalian Marathon. Seeing the delivery notification made me anxious. I couldn't wait to get back and put on the new shoes for a run, haha.
Unboxing and Appearance
As expected, Bmai did not disappoint me. Upon opening the package, the color combination of the shoes looked very stylish. The large areas of fluorescent yellow and black make the running shoes very eye-catching.
The upper features a one-piece design with PU film and mesh, with fine workmanship and smooth lines. The sole is made of EVA and rubber, making it a highly attractive cushioned running shoe.
The built-in dual-density insoles show the dedication of the developers. The Ortholite foam insoles are always soft, breathable, cushioned, resilient, and quick-drying. Bmai has added high-density materials to the forefoot area to enhance propulsion. The hemp fiber fabric effectively inhibits bacteria and odors.
The midsole of the 42K features a multi-density medial anti-pronation design for precise support, with a three-dimensional heel stabilizer for strong support and protection. The high-elastic foam around the ankle provides the best protection, preventing sports injuries.
The most important aspect of the sole is its durability. After several test runs, there was no noticeable wear, which is commendable compared to another brand at the same price point. However, there is a slight drawback. The lightweight rubber on the forefoot is quite soft, almost like silicone.
The only downside is that the shoes don't look very sleek, possibly because the forefoot area is quite wide. However, this is a blessing for runners with wider feet. I love the '42.195' printed on the inside of the shoe, marking a full marathon. Wearing these shoes, I can proudly show off that I'm a marathon runner, haha.
Actual Experience
The first impression upon wearing them is that they have a strong wrapping effect and provide excellent ankle protection. My feet are wide and high-arched, and the forefoot area is very spacious. Walking feels very soft and comfortable, and running should feel even better.
I went for a night run to test the new shoes. Firstly, the shoes are very eye-catching and look great. The attention they drew while running on the road was incredible, haha.
To test the performance of the running shoes, I conducted tests at low, medium, and high paces, combining short, medium, and long distances. The specific test results are as follows:
First test: 11 km slow run. My feet felt no discomfort or friction, and the shoes required no break-in period. The rebound and cushioning were quite good, making the run feel effortless. The only downside was that the forefoot felt a bit stiff, but it didn't affect the run.
Second test: 15 km steady run. The support and cushioning were adequate, though the sole felt slightly hard. The anti-slip grip was excellent, even in the rain. Again, no break-in period was needed, and my feet felt no discomfort.
To prepare for the Lanzhou Marathon and to test the Bmai shoes, I chose a long-distance run for the third test: 30 km, no problem.
I chose a rural road for the 30 km run. The rebound was excellent, and the wrapping and support were very strong. The latter half of the long run felt increasingly effortless. I even sped up for one kilometer to test the shoes' explosiveness, and the results were very satisfying. For runners who don't have high performance demands, these are indeed highly cost-effective marathon shoes.
