bimai 42k running shoes first love experience

First of all, I want to thank Codoon for giving me the opportunity to review the Bmai Mile 42K Pro for free. I have been using Codoon for two years now and have always been very interested in Bmai. This event is no exception. On April 21, I applied on Codoon to review the Bmai Mile 42K Pro (the upgraded version of the Bmai 42K). On May 5, I found out through Codoon's equipment party that I was selected to review the latest Bmai Mile series running shoes, the 42K Pro. For the past two years, Codoon has been my constant companion in sports. Because of Codoon, my workouts are no longer lonely. Life is so short, I want to run more.

It is reported that Bmai is a company formed by a group of people who love running, aiming to provide a better running experience for runners. Simply put, Bmai is such a brand. I personally really like this spirit. From Bmai 001 to Bmai Mile 42K Pro, the technology has been comprehensively upgraded, from the sole to the upper... I feel that it is a conscientious brand.

Unboxing and Inspection

When I opened the packaging of these running shoes, I was amazed by the box. The design has a strong 'metallic feel,' making one wonder if there is some treasure inside. Later, I did some research online and found out that this type of packaging box is made of an environmentally friendly material similar to plastic. It uses a vertical airbag arrangement in a drawer-style airbag, with each air column filled with air. Of course, this design concept is the best choice for logistics and transportation.

First, the airbag is waterproof, so it is not afraid of getting wet in the rain. Secondly, the air column is thick enough and has excellent compression resistance. The protection for the running shoes is needless to say, in one word—'awesome.'

Secondly, such a cool packaging for the running shoes, supplemented with Bmai's logo and company QR code information, is naturally indispensable. The running shoe parameters are also essential. Item number, name, place of origin, color, size. Everything is complete. On the right side, there is also Bmai's QR code, making it easier to learn more about Bmai.

Furthermore, the filling in the shoes has also been comprehensively upgraded, abandoning the traditional paper ball and adopting an airbag design consistent with the shoe box, providing better support.

Taking out the airbag bag that provides 360-degree support for the running shoes. The stylish and simple yet grand Bmai purple comes into view. The excitement of receiving new shoes prompted me to put them on and feel them. When I first put on the new shoes, I felt a bit tight on the instep, but after readjusting the laces, it felt much more comfortable.

Appearance Review

1. Upper
The Bmai Mile 42K Pro uses a 'PU film + mesh' upper. This running shoe uses a seamless film process combined with jacquard weaving to create the upper, achieving the characteristics of lightweight wrapping and breathable fit. The lightweight breathable material in the middle of the upper ensures the timely discharge of exhaust during running. The materials on both sides of the upper are basically the same, ensuring good breathability. The toe is upturned, suitably supporting the arch.

The PU film and mesh ensure breathability and lightness while achieving integration, reducing friction between the material and the runner's foot, and enhancing overall comfort. The author felt quite good when trying them on.

The heel of the 42K Pro uses a three-dimensional stable device, which looks very textured and feels very solid, providing strong support while offering three-dimensional protection for the heel. The heel material also has memory and reflective functions, giving a sense of security.

The tongue of the 42K Pro uses a softer material and mesh than the upper, combined with flat 3M reflective laces that match the color of the shoe body, increasing the safety factor for those who like night running. Additionally, the tongue part locks the instep well, further enhancing ankle protection.

2. Midsole
The first impression of the 42K Pro's midsole is 'thick and honest.' The thickness is quite large, ensuring the height difference between the front and rear soles. This is Bmai's unique Bmai Boom cushioning foam rebound material, similar to Boost running shoes. You can feel a significant rebound feedback after putting them on. The midfoot TPU support structure and the anti-overturn design on the inner side of the midsole provide precise support while reducing sports injuries. The wear resistance is well suited to the intensity of a marathon.

3. Outsole
The new outsole pattern of the 42K Pro integrates wear-resistant rubber, providing rapid grip during running. The heel area is surrounded by a circle of high-strength wear-resistant material, with Bmai's trademark added in the middle. Additionally, there is a high-strength support material TPU in a cross shape in the middle of the sole, further ensuring the sole's compression resistance and wear resistance. The multi-pattern design of the forefoot provides good anti-slip function and makes the midsole softer and more moderate, while the shoe is easy to bend.

4. Insole
The insole is made of top-grade running shoe standard Ortholite material, providing shock absorption while being moisture-wicking and dry. The HEMP hemp fiber effectively inhibits the growth of foot sweat and bacteria.

First Impressions

I am 168 cm tall, weigh 55 kg, have normal foot shape, and have been running for 3 years and 1 month (2 years of regular marathon training). My personal best for 5 km is 17 minutes, 10 km is 36 minutes, half marathon is 120 minutes, and full marathon is 304 minutes. During this review, I ran four times on different terrains, totaling 58 km.

1. Road Test in Front of the Office

On May 14, I completed a half marathon in the morning and accompanied my baby for a 10 km run in the afternoon. I took the 42K Pro, which had been 'aired' on the windowsill, for a test run. I didn't feel any rubbing when I put them on directly. When the wind blew, it felt a bit cool, confirming the breathability of the upper. During the run, the heel's rebound was particularly good, especially noticeable during the gradual acceleration. The wrapping of the instep and heel, as well as the midfoot support, felt okay. The grip of the forefoot was also good.

2. 10 km Road Race Test

On May 20, on this special day, I participated in the Shenmu County Marathon Rainbow Run. Of course, I couldn't do without my 'beloved' 42K Pro. At the start, I sprinted to the first position. The heel's cushioning was still good, but at 600 meters from the starting point, I was accidentally tripped by a fellow runner while slowing down for a turn. I was stunned, but fortunately, my teammate reminded me to get up quickly. At that moment, I realized that the 42K Pro's ankle protection was really good; otherwise, I might not have been able to get up. I overtook many runners in the remaining kilometers, catching up with the leading group. In the final 1 km sprint, I gave it my all, and the shoe's grip was really impressive. I finished with a time of 38 minutes and 17 seconds, tying for the men's 10 km championship with a top runner.

3. 10 km Track Test

I chose to run on the company's track to experience a different feel. On May 26, I started by pacing a female teammate. After adapting to the track for the first kilometer, I gradually increased the pace to around 4 minutes and 58 seconds. At this point, I deliberately increased my stride and landing force to feel the contact and rebound between the sole and the track. You just need to step down, push your leg up, and you will feel a strong force bouncing you up. I sprinted the last kilometer at a pace of 3 minutes and 59 seconds, easily completing the 10 km in 52 minutes and 13 seconds.

4. Half Marathon Race Test

On May 29, I participated in the 2017 'Silk Road' Ningxia Yinchuan International Marathon as an official pacer for the 150-minute half marathon. The temperature that day reached around 31°C, which can only be described as 'baking.' From the start, I maintained a pace of about 5 minutes and 10 seconds. The cushioning performance was as good as ever, and the breathability of the instep was also good. This pace with these running shoes was really comfortable, and I successfully completed the pacer task. However, my feet felt a bit stuffy and damp, and there was some wear on the front tongue and mesh of the sole.

Summary

Overall, the Bmai Mile 42K Pro is a cost-effective road running shoe.

Cushioning: 9.5 points

It helps distribute the force evenly during running and effectively enhances heel support. The insole, with a design similar to a lightweight mesh, fits the foot well, preventing slipping inside the shoe. The stability is quite good after putting them on.

Durability: 8.6 points

After several tests, the outsole's durability is relatively poor, with noticeable wear on the toe and mesh of the running shoe.

Comfort: 9.0 points

The socks remained relatively dry during several test runs, though the soles felt a bit stuffy and damp. However, the breathability at this price point is acceptable, and the wrapping of the upper is also good.

Appearance: 9.3 points

The appearance is very fashionable, with the grand and stylish Bmai purple.

Speed: 8.8 points

After all, it is not a racing shoe, so the speed aspect is relatively weak. It is suitable for marathon runners aiming for around 4 hours, as well as those with normal or overpronated feet.

Overall Score: 93 points
