bimai 42k running shoes really put on and run

Please allow me to say a few words before the review. First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to Xiao Dang and Beijing Bimai Sports Goods Co., Ltd. for their trust and recognition. I still remember the first time I participated in the Codoon running shoe review, I was fortunate to try the Bimai 21k2, which gave me a deep understanding and knowledge of Bimai road running shoes.

Bimai Sports Goods Co., Ltd. is an internet sports company founded by a group of running enthusiasts. The initial intention of its establishment was to encourage every sports lover to bravely take the first step and be themselves. Although Bimai road running shoes are a rising star among domestic running shoes, they have brought many meticulously crafted products to running enthusiasts, such as mile001, mile10k, mile21k, mile21k2, and now mile42k. Without further ado, let's get to the point.

Unboxing

When I received the 42k from the courier, my first impression was that it was lighter than the 21k. I couldn't wait to tear off the first layer of packaging and was stunned by the exquisite shoe box in front of me. It was a fully vacuum-sealed plastic drawer-type shoe box. The black Bimai font, logo, QR code, classic slogan 'Every step is a surpassing' mile 42k pro, item number, shoe upper material, midsole material, color, shoe size, and place of origin were all clearly visible on the silver-white plastic shoe box. This shoe box is very high-end and worth collecting.

The Bimai 42k comes in three color options for both men and women: Bimai purple, fluorescent yellow, and basic black. All three colors are very beautiful. I struggled for a long time to choose the color and finally decided on fluorescent green. When the drawer-type shoe box was opened, the mysterious veil of the 42k was finally revealed, and a pair of very bright and refreshing fluorescent green shoes came into view. I must give a thumbs up to the Bimai team. The shoes were filled with vacuum plastic airbags to prevent deformation during shipping.

The 42k upper uses a one-piece hot-pressing technology combined with jacquard lightweight mesh fabric to provide comfort and breathability. The toe cap uses a TPU film with reflective material to prevent toe injuries from hard objects during exercise and to keep water out during rainy road runs. It also provides safety for night runs. The tongue features the black Bimai font and the 42.195 logo, with 3M reflective laces matching the shoe body color, making the upper integrated. The heel TPU with reflective material 'Bimai' character provides support and stability while offering safety warnings for night runs. The 42.195 on the inner heel is very eye-catching, reminding us that this is a road running shoe for a full marathon.

The 42k midsole has a newly upgraded structure with four layers of density. The first layer of the insole continues the dual-density insole of the 21k2, made of sweat-absorbent hemp fiber fabric and Ortholite material, with a concave-convex design to increase the fit and wrap of the foot and shoe, enhancing sweat-wicking and quick-drying, antibacterial, and deodorizing properties. The second layer of the midsole is still Bimai's BOOM midsole technology, providing shock absorption and cushioning for runners during exercise, with long-lasting rebound. The third layer is an EVA midsole with an ARCH SUPPORT structure and an anti-overturn design on the outer side of the midsole, providing precise support while reducing sports injuries. The fourth layer is a new outsole with wear-resistant rubber, increasing the grip of the running shoe during exercise. The X-shaped TPU in the middle of the outsole provides support and stability. The anti-slip and wear-resistant rubber outsole feels thicker than the 21k2.

I ran 853 kilometers in the Bimai 21k2, and the outsole's wear resistance is still quite good. The shoes have not deformed at all and still look new.

After unboxing such a bright and beautiful pair of running shoes, don't you feel an urge to put them on and go for a 10-kilometer run?

Field Test

The morning after receiving the shoes, I excitedly put on the 42k running shoes and went for a 10-kilometer run on Phoenix Mountain. As soon as I put on the shoes, I immediately felt the wrap of the shoes, which was as good as the 21k2, with excellent comfort. They are lighter than the 21k, and the sole is softer than the 21k. Since my feet are relatively thin, many shoes fit in length but wobble inside. The Bimai running shoes' last is very suitable for my foot shape. After a simple one-minute warm-up at my doorstep, I started my debut journey with the Bimai 42k. I didn't feel the shock absorption and cushioning of the shoes in the first kilometer, maybe because I weigh too little (I only weigh 50 kilograms). In the second kilometer, I slowly felt the rebound of the sole. In the third and fourth kilometers, the rebound became stronger, and the shoes became more comfortable. The wrap, stability, and cushioning of the shoes are not inferior to the 21k, and even better. During the run, I met two ladies from the running group and asked them to take a photo. With a happy mood, I finished the 10 kilometers without realizing it.

The second time I wore the 42k, I went for a pseudo-trail run. This route had cement roads, cobblestone roads, dirt roads, and water grass roads. These road surfaces showcased the advantages of the 42k to the fullest. The wrap and stability of the shoes prevented my feet from wobbling inside the shoes due to uneven road surfaces, and the shock absorption and cushioning effects were more evident. After running on dirt roads and cobblestone roads, the anti-slip grip of the rubber outsole was undeniable. Passing through a section of water grass, the waterproof performance around the shoes was impressive. I slowed down to enjoy the scenery along the way, which was very nice. 42k—put them on and run!

I ran over 100 kilometers in the Bimai 42k, covering cement roads, asphalt roads after rain, and pseudo-trail dirt roads. The only regret is that I have been busy recently and haven't had time to experience long distances, mostly running around 10 kilometers. Since participating in the Codoon review, I no longer run mechanically like before. Now, with every step, I feel the feedback from the shoes and soles during the impact of exercise, thinking about the different experiences and feelings brought by each pair of running shoes due to their different functions. Wearing the 42k, my average step frequency is 185 with a stride length of 115, while wearing the 21k, my average step frequency is around 180 with a stride length of 109. This is why the 42k is lighter than the 21k.

Out of curiosity about the X-shaped TPU bracket in the midsole, I specifically tested return runs, corner acceleration runs, and downhill acceleration runs during the running process. The 42k's anti-torsion performance is very impressive, especially during downhill acceleration. The cushioning and rebound of the Bimai BOOM midsole are remarkable, with excellent elasticity. Whoever wears it knows.

(Please do not imitate downhill acceleration runs and corner acceleration runs)

Summary

Highlight one: The 42k tongue is fixed, connected to the shoe body through an inner mesh, increasing the wrap of the shoe and preventing the tongue from sliding left and right during exercise.

Highlight two: The ARCH SUPPORT structure in the midfoot and the anti-overturn design on the outer side of the midsole complement the X-shaped TPU in the middle of the outsole, providing precise support while reducing sports injuries. Highlight three: The hard TPU in the heel tightly locks the heel, providing good support and stability for runners.

The only drawback of the shoes is that the breathability is not very good. I don't know if it's because the temperature is a bit high recently, but my feet feel a bit stuffy after running 10 kilometers.

The Bimai 42k is a very suitable cushioning and supportive running shoe for our daily training, short distances, and long distances. It has a high cost-performance ratio. Based on my experience with the Bimai 21k2, the 42k has not only upgraded the shoe weight, sole softness, and outsole wear resistance. The most important thing in participating in running sports is to have a pair of suitable running shoes to protect you from injury. The Bimai 42k road running shoes are a pair of good shoes that suit me and protect me from injury. There are no best running shoes, only the ones that suit you are the best. The Bimai 42k running shoes are a national treasure worth experiencing!
