A few years ago, I received the Mile II 21K cushioning running shoes from Codoon, delivered by SF Express, which was very fast. The moment I opened the package, I was slightly amazed by the design of the Codoon shoe box. As someone who has always worn Asics, I am very particular about my choice of running shoes. The fit and comfort of the shoes are my top priority, followed by protection and durability, with the appearance being the third consideration.

Appearance and Material

This time, I chose a bright pink color for the Codoon shoes, which I usually wouldn't wear (I generally don't choose such flashy colors for my running shoes). I have to say, the actual shoes look better than the photos. The combination of pink and bright sky blue, with a lemon yellow rubber sole and the black, red, and yellow camouflage pattern, was a pleasant surprise. As an art school graduate, I pay a lot of attention to the design and color matching of shoes. These shoes give off a vibe of 'sports bring energy and vitality.'

Regarding the shoe size, due to a previous mistake, I ordered half a size smaller. I usually wear US7.5, which is EU38.5 for Asics shoes. I was worried that the Codoon shoes wouldn't fit, but surprisingly, they fit perfectly. Codoon's full-size standard adjusts from the European 6.67mm to the Chinese standard of 5mm, making it more suitable for Chinese foot shapes.

The shoe upper is made of jacquard mesh with seamless overlays, making it quite breathable and snug. The shoes use Ortholite material to help wick away moisture and dry quickly, and the insoles are made of hemp fiber fabric, which is antibacterial and deodorizing. So after running, the shoes don't smell or get sweaty. The low-friction structure also prevents blisters caused by friction between the insoles and feet during running. The double-density insoles, combined with high-elastic BOOM and dual-density EVA, provide cushioning and support.

The EVA material sole has high resilience and tensile strength, providing cushioning and shock absorption. As we all know, the force generated during running is three times our body weight, so besides having a good running posture, choosing the right running shoes is also crucial.

The arch support of Codoon running shoes uses a TPU structure for stability, reducing the risk of injury from excessive foot rotation. Therefore, these shoes are suitable for normal arches and mild overpronation.

Although the rubber outsole can distribute local pressure and provide a solid grip during running, it adds weight to the shoes, making them unsuitable for speed running. When trying to speed up, it can make your feet feel tired.

My First 12KM

As a running enthusiast who runs at least 12-13KM daily, I wore these Codoon shoes for my first 12KM run. Initially, they felt a bit stiff, but after 2KM, the soles started to conform to my feet, making the entire run quite comfortable at a pace of around 6 minutes per kilometer. The key point was that my feet felt very comfortable during the run.

My First Pace Run

After breaking in the Codoon shoes for a few days, I decided to try pace and interval runs. I had heard from friends that Codoon shoes weren't suitable for speed running, so I wanted to test them. I did a 16.1KM pace run at a pace of 5:39 per kilometer, which felt good and not too tiring. However, during interval runs, I found that the shoes indeed felt heavy, making it hard to pick up speed, so I decided to stop.

My First Half Marathon

After several different types of training runs, I ran a half marathon on New Year's Eve, still wearing the Codoon shoes. I maintained a pace of 5:49 per kilometer and felt quite comfortable throughout. However, after the run, I noticed that the soles were already quite worn out after less than 100KM. For someone who runs over 300KM a month, Codoon shoes are not very durable. Therefore, I recommend them for daily runs under 20KM or for those with lower mileage, but they are not suitable for long-term, high-mileage runners.

As a domestic brand, Codoon still has some way to go compared to top-tier running shoe brands, but their running shoes are promising for the domestic market. The Codoon 21K shoes provided a good wearing experience, especially with their flashy appearance. Even if they are no longer suitable for running due to worn-out soles, they can still be used as stylish walking shoes. The attractive colors always catch people's attention.
