Bmai running shoes on Zhihu? Never heard of them. Forgive my lack of knowledge about many running shoe brands, but ever since Codoon's editor sent me this pair of Bmai Mile 21K Lite running shoes, I think I've started to fall in love with this brand's shoes. How are Bmai running shoes? At the very least, I'll be wearing them for my third Beijing Marathon (because someone once said 21K, and they couldn't go beyond 21K). Bmai running shoes 21K Lite unboxing review

The day after Codoon's editor notified me that the shoes were shipped, I received them. The speed is acceptable. Secondly, upon opening the Bmai running shoe box, I saw the Bmai packaging. To be honest, although the shoe box is simple, it's totally my style. Believe it or not, I quite like it.



My pair of men's Bmai 21K Lite is in classic black. I haven't worn Bmai running shoes before, so I'm not very familiar with this brand. However, as a running enthusiast, the visual impact of these shoes is strong enough. The appearance may not be top-notch, but it definitely meets the aesthetic standards of many marathon runners.

Having talked about the overall look, let's check out the details. First, let's look at the upper of the Bmai 21K running shoes. It uses a mesh design with lightweight and breathable materials in the middle to ensure that your feet won't feel stuffy due to sweat while running. Additionally, the toe of the shoe is slightly upturned to protect the runner's toes.

Next, the Bmai 21K road running shoes feature a double strap design on both sides of the shoe body. The outer side is embedded with hard EVA support for better wrapping and lateral support, while the inner side is softer to ensure flexibility. Moreover, the outer side of the shoe body has a large area of 3M reflective design, which significantly increases safety for runners who love night running.



Now, let's look at the midsole of the Bmai 21K. It uses a dual-layer dual-density midsole design, with the upper layer being softer and the lower layer harder. This can help some runners correct poor running posture, reduce impact, and convert it into effective rebound, providing cushioning.



As for the sole of the Bmai 21K Lite, it mainly consists of two layers of cushioning and rebound materials, and a wear-resistant outsole. The heel uses DURA RB wear-resistant rubber, but its actual wear resistance will need to be determined after further testing.

How are Bmai 21K running shoes? Review impressions

Speaking of reviews, I must first mention my initial impression when I put on the Bmai 21K. Surprisingly comfortable, the foot feel can definitely get a full score. Let me share my experiences running 5K/10K/21K with these shoes to see how the quality of Bmai shoes is:

1. Breathability of running shoes


The first time I ran 5km, I warmed up for the first kilometer to get used to the shoes. In the second and third kilometers, the shoes felt very comfortable, and I gradually picked up the pace. In the fourth and fifth kilometers, I easily sped up to a pace of around 4 minutes and a few seconds.



The second, third, and fourth times I ran 10km, which included road running, road running plus track, and track running. (1) Road running: warmed up with a slow run for the first five kilometers, then continuously sped up for the next five kilometers, easily completing the ten kilometers. (2) Road running plus track: easily sped up in both, with better continuous speed-up effects on the track. (3) Track running: started, accelerated, and continuously accelerated, easily completing ten kilometers in 41 minutes.



The fifth time was the Haiyang Marathon 21K event. Since it was a race, I was quite excited. After breaking through the crowd in the first kilometer, I easily sped up to a pace of around 4 minutes and maintained a 4:15 pace until the finish. I finished in the top 100 and won my first prize of 500 yuan since I started running.



The sixth time was the Haiyang Marathon recovery run (and the last long-distance run before the Beijing Marathon). Since it was a recovery run, I was quite relaxed, maintaining a pace of around 5 minutes per kilometer until 18 kilometers, then easily speeding up to a pace of around 4 minutes per kilometer. I finished 23 kilometers and ended the recovery run easily.



The seventh time was the Beijing Marathon 42K. Since it was the first leg of the China Grand Slam and the top event in China, I faced the 42K without fear. After taking a group photo at Tiananmen in the first kilometer, I started to speed up.




At ten kilometers, I maintained a pace of around 4:20 and felt very comfortable. I felt good about myself. At this point, I saw a German runner and ran with him for two kilometers. After taking a group photo, I continued to maintain my pace.



At 16 kilometers, my stomach started to feel uncomfortable. I ran to the side of the road and borrowed some toilet paper from a volunteer, looking for a toilet all the way. I persisted until 20 kilometers before finding one. I almost impulsively ran off the course to solve the problem.



I planned to finish the first half in 1:35, but due to the stomach issue, I finished in 1:40. Then I continued at a pace of 4:20. When I encountered the supply station, I decisively ate and drank, but my stomach hurt again! I started to wonder what was going on, as I had never experienced this before. Then I finally realized that the bread left over from last week's Haiyang Marathon that I ate this morning must have expired! Until 30 kilometers, the 3:30 pacers passed by one after another, and I finally understood that 21K is indeed my limit (just kidding). In the end, I safely completed the entire course.


From start to finish, although my feet didn't feel uncomfortable, I could still feel a bit of stuffiness (in Baoding's 30-degree Celsius weather). Overall, the breathability is slightly lacking, but the foot feel is indeed comfortable. Thumbs up~~


2. How to choose running shoes for support and cushioning

In my opinion, the cushioning effect of this Mile 21K is good. Firstly, it provides a surprisingly comfortable foot feel. Additionally, the dual-layer dual-density midsole design effectively enhances its cushioning effect. For heavier runners, there's no need to worry about not being able to handle it. Overall, the cushioning performance is good. As for support, the TPU material in the sole and arch is the main contributor, providing strong support and effectively protecting the runner's knees from impact.



3. Durability

After 21 days, I experienced the 21K from 5K, 10K (road running + track), 21K (race + recovery run), and 42K. The sole showed no wear, but since the mileage is too low, it's still uncertain whether its durability can withstand high mileage. This needs further verification...
