Lately, I've been feeling a bit off, and besides business trips and training, I've found myself particularly enjoying looking through old things during my free time. For example, Codoon's sports circle, Weibo, and my own public account.

Could it be that we post-2000s are starting to embrace nostalgia and retro trends?


I flipped through the directory and found that the first article on my public account was written on September 9, 2016, with 394 views. It's been over four years now, and I'm grateful to those 394 'seeds'; your encouragement has kept me writing until today.


Honestly, every time I see articles I posted years ago, I always have this feeling:What was I thinking when I posted these? Did I eat something that gave me the courage of a bear and the heart of a leopard??Did I really write this?Why does the layout look so terrible?What on earth are these pictures?

But still, I have to say without blushing or skipping a beat:No matter how rough or bad my writing was back then, I still cherish every word and every punctuation mark I wrote.

After all, they are very precious memories to me.

Especially when I look back at my race records, I can still recall many scenes from the races I participated in, like the Yangzhou Half Marathon in 2017.

Yangzhou is one of my favorite cities.

Who doesn't have some half-reliable, half-unreliable expectations when they're young? Who doesn't have some half-hopeful, half-rational fantasies while running with earphones on? Back then, I hoped to meet interesting people along the way, to travel to more unfamiliar cities, to be with friends who could walk together without feeling awkward, to remember more things, write them down, tell others, and remind myself that happiness comes from passion, and passion comes from purity.


Every marathon is like a large-scale meetup for online friends, and that one was no exception.Two friends left the deepest impression on me: one was Fanny Zhou, who taught me how to take photos; the other was Panpan, who was always eating. Thinking back now, the memories are still vivid.

Let's talk about Sister Zhou first.

You might not believe it, but the now 'photographer-killer' Shen Wuzei, yes, that's me, used to be just a background prop. The most bizarre part was that I was always a background prop for one person.

That person was Sister Zhou, Fanny Zhou.


Sister Zhou has three treasures:She loves to smile, can run, and takes great photos.

'Wuzei, let me tell you, looks don't matter. When it comes to photobombing, you're no match for me.'

'Actually, I've missed many opportunities too because I also want some results. Plus, you have to jump sideways; if you jump facing forward, your legs look like they're breaking, and the photos won't look good.'

'Wuzei, these are all tips from photographers. Don't tell too many people!'

Yes, yes, don't worry, I won't 'tell' too many people. I'll just write it down and post it on my public account.


The other friend I met on Codoon was Panpan, who posted about food and 'provoked envy' every day. A cheerful and lively foodie, a curious woman full of life.


In Yangzhou, our conversations were basically like this:
'Panpan, what are you doing?'
(Ten minutes later)
'Hahaha, we're eating!'
'Panpan, where are you guys?'
(Five minutes later)
'Hahaha, we're buying popcorn!'

A person who traveled all the way from Shenzhen with her friends to run a marathon, the only thing that could stop Panpan from achieving a personal best was her appetite. You think it's only about eating before the race? Ha!

'I didn't run well yesterday; I ate too much salty food last night and this morning.'


Honestly, I've been running for years and have participated in many marathons that I liked, but the Yangzhou Marathon has always been very special.It's not just because of the people I met, but also because of the charm of the race itself.


Due to work, I rarely have the chance to run marathons in other cities, so I always try to choose full marathons to run a bit longer in that city, making the trip worthwhile. Moreover, many gold-label marathons only offer full marathons, not half marathons.

But the Yangzhou Marathon has always been an exception. As a gold-label event, it doesn't have a full marathon; the longest distance is a half marathon, and next year, even the mini-marathon will be canceled.

If you're not ready for a full marathon and want to participate in a high-standard half marathon as your first race; if you haven't been able to achieve a personal best in a full marathon and want a half marathon to boost your confidence, then I recommendthe Yangzhou Jianzhen Half Marathon, especially for runners from other places.
