It has been exactly two years since I took my first step and started running. I was weak and often sick as a child, and I didn't even attend physical education classes. Influenced by my colleagues, I signed up for the Jilin University campus run on June 10, 2017. Although it was only 3.8 kilometers, it was already beyond my limits as someone who had never run before. My legs were stiff and sore after the run. At that time, I thought: if others can run, why can't I? So, I started running on the track every morning or evening, from panting after 50 meters to sweating after a few kilometers. I truly felt the confidence and satisfaction of making progress and experienced the thrill and soreness of sweating profusely. Thus, I began my running journey.
Regardless of the severe cold or scorching heat, wind or rain, you could see me running on the track, along the riverbank, or in the park. From running alone to meeting new running friends and running together; from being a novice to gradually learning about running; from running with a few colleagues to the establishment of the Jilin University Third Hospital Renxin Running Group, encouraging more people to run together, I have gone through hardships and gained a lot.
During this time, I experienced countless injuries, from hitting my forehead during a morning run to scraping my knee during a night run; from blisters on my feet to losing toenails; from running my first full marathon to my twelfth full marathon today; from silently vowing never to sign up for another full marathon during each race to insisting on signing up for the next one; from starting to run to losing weight and improving my physical fitness over two years, filled with youthful vitality. Perhaps this is the marathon spirit of challenging oneself, surpassing limits, and never giving up that inspires me. As I often say: if you don't try, how do you know you can't do it?
