[star show] assistance in the dark lets run together
Editor's Note:Seeing her Codoon nickname @Ben'er Ben'er Ben, everyone would think she is a tough guy. In fact, she is a soft-hearted 'tough girl.' From mud runs to color runs, from trail runs to vertical marathons, from mini marathons to full marathons, from spring and autumn to winter and summer... Codoon has witnessed her running journey.
I used to love outdoor sports very much, but after multiple injuries, I felt that I was getting older and should be more feminine. So, after thorough consideration, I chose a more civilized and popular form of exercise, grew my hair long, and started running.
On the crazy running road, there was the joy of teamwork, the hardship of fighting alone, the excitement of crossing the finish line, and of course, the satisfaction of admiring medals at home.
Gradually, I found that running is more often a solitary sport. After the excitement and joy comes monotony and boredom, and after the initial enthusiasm comes laziness and a dislike for running. It is said that many runners go through this period of disappointment, so I had to try to change something.
An accidental race, a team, a group of running friends, a set of markers, a belief, completely changed me and transformed my running career from quantitative to qualitative change.
I joined He Yajun's Blind Running Team and became part of the group that helps the blind run. From that day on, I realized that running could be so meaningful. PBs, medals, big races, honors... all seemed so insignificant and trivial in this special team. I am very fortunate to have joined such a big family!
In this team, there are people who never want to leave their real names, never calculate their time and money costs, never care about their contributions being rewarded. Whether it's a gold medal event or an ordinary marathon, they risk being disqualified. Every weekend, at every race, they carefully guide blind friends with a running rope, leading them step by step to the bright finish line... They have a unified name: Blind Running Guides.
In less than a year of assisting runs, I have grown together with this team and learned a lot. The blind runners' struggle against their fate and disabilities constantly inspires and motivates me. The selfless dedication of the volunteer guides, who wholeheartedly serve the blind friends, always conveys to me a sense of belief and positive energy! Not for PBs, not for showing off, but to live up to this dream and this trust.
When running transformed from quantitative to qualitative change, I truly understood the deeper meaning of exercise. You might think that walking with eyes closed is difficult, let alone running? But whether you believe it or not, for blind friends, every run is a journey of listening.
Whether walking or running a marathon, it is ultimately challenging for the blind. Running in the dark is ultimately terrifying. The guidance, companionship, and encouragement of the blind running guides are the light in the darkness. Every time, we strive until we can no longer, and work hard until we move ourselves. We ultimately have to conquer the impossible. Maybe in the future, you will see them in more races. Please give them more courtesy, understanding, and support.
Having the opportunity to participate in this process made me realize how arduous it is, how important the responsibility of guiding is, how the other end of the rope is someone's entire reliance, and how beautiful it is to successfully complete a race each time.
I am grateful for the trust of the blind friends, the inclusiveness of the team, the guidance of other volunteers, and the support of fellow runners. In this big team, there is you, there is me, there is him! There are tears, there is love, there is home! For the road ahead, please continue to entrust me with your trust!
