1. Appearance and Packaging

The SALOMON SENSE RIDE trail running shoes come in a box designed with elements of the Alps, presented in the style of Chinese landscape painting, expressing a pursuit of nature and a longing for freedom, sparking endless imagination.

2. Upper
The SALOMON SENSE RIDE uses 3D stretch breathable mesh. The upper is lightweight and relatively soft, allowing the forefoot to move freely without pressure, ensuring comfort and breathability while preventing small stones from entering the shoe. Additionally, the SALOMON SENSE RIDE emphasizes 'More Comfort,' with SensiFIT and EndoFIT technologies providing a higher degree of foot conformity and a more comfortable feel.

The front of the toe cap features a clearly engraved [S], simple yet aesthetically pleasing, showcasing the brand's logo perfectly. The anti-collision toe cap effectively mitigates foot impacts and protects the toes from injury.

4. Laces
The QUICKLACE quick-pull lace system allows for instant tightening by pulling up the S loop at the top. The S loop can then be tucked into the mesh pocket, making it easy to put on the shoes in just one second.
Honestly, this was my first time encountering Salomon, and not knowing how to use the laces initially left me puzzled. I spent nearly half an hour figuring out how to use the laces until I discovered that the mesh pocket under the [S] logo is for storing the S loop, preventing accidents from tripping over excess laces. The lace eyelets are reinforced with plastic, and I was instantly impressed by the exquisite craftsmanship. No wonder these shoes won the WINNER ISPO Global Design Award; they truly deserve it. Additionally, this system avoids the issue of traditional laces being tight in some parts and loose in others, keeping the foot well-secured without movement.

5. Tongue
The tongue design features an inner lining wrap technology, with an integrated inner lining providing seamless comfort and overall wrapping. The tongue lining connects with the shoe's interior, enhancing the wrapping performance. Combined with the soft and comfortable fabric, the on-foot feel is excellent.

6. Insole
The insole uses a unique Ortholite professional antibacterial insole, adding sponge rebound technology to inhibit bacterial growth and effectively prevent odors. The insole has pressure test analysis for the entire foot, with the bottom texture designed to reduce foot pressure during road running.

7. Sole
The SALOMON SENSE RIDE midsole uses the new Vibe technology, previously used in the Sonic series and Sense Max. VIBE technology consists of EnergyCell+ foam and two Opal inserts, maximizing cushioning performance.

Additionally, the SENSE RIDE midsole incorporates a full-length Opal material to enhance rebound response speed. The outsole features a three-dimensional red rubber sculpture in the center, symbolizing the brand's proud traction and durability technology. The density and formula are the result of long-term accumulation, providing excellent traction and grip on both soft and hard, dry or wet surfaces.

The first weekend after receiving the shoes coincided with the Codoon Guilin Online Marathon. How could cold weather dampen the enthusiasm of a seasoned runner? With few leisure weekends, let's cut to the chase with a six-word mantra: 'No fear, just do it!' Gear up and start the half marathon!

Since my previous running shoes were all road running shoes, this was my first time trying trail shoes. The initial feeling was like wearing spiked shoes, with a noticeable sensation in the forefoot. The new shoes felt slightly stiff during low-speed running on a campus track, and my feet were slightly unaccustomed after a half marathon. However, the overall feel of the shoes was very lightweight, with a single shoe weighing 280 grams, similar to regular cushioning running shoes.

After experiencing four different surfaces—track, cement road, asphalt road, and gravel mountain road—and a total of over seventy kilometers of slow running, I felt confident in handling this red running car. So, I chose to speed up on an asphalt road one evening after work, running 13.14 kilometers. This time, I noticed the shoes' breathability, wrapping, and grip.

First, let's talk about breathability. In the cold winter of my city, the first few kilometers made the shoes' breathability evident, as I could feel my feet getting cold.
Next is wrapping. My usual running posture is forefoot landing first. This shoe's wrapping is very strong, making it feel lightweight while running, without the draggy feeling of regular cushioning running shoes.
Lastly, the grip. Walking on the marble floor at home, the shoes made a 'squeaky' sound, reminiscent of a brother grinding his teeth in sleep. (They say graduation is far away, but in the blink of an eye, we've gone our separate ways. To my brother far away, when you read this article, know that my thoughts and blessings are with you.) Not to get sentimental, back to the point. During runs, we often encounter wet surfaces. In the past, I would slow down, but these shoes gave me the confidence to keep running, with excellent grip and anti-slip performance.
Regarding durability, after nearly a hundred kilometers of running, the outsole showed no significant wear, indicating high durability.

The SALOMON SENSE RIDE features a quick lace storage system, tongue lining wrap technology, shoe body wrap technology, and independent forefoot wrap technology. These four patented technologies in the SENSE RIDE easily meet various running needs. The shoes' excellent wrapping and outsole anti-slip properties provide great comfort and high safety during running. Of course, nothing is perfect. As a trail running shoe, I think its shortcoming is the lack of waterproof functionality. The price is slightly high, but if you truly love running, it's worth having. After all, there's a saying, 'Running makes you poor for life, trail running makes you poor for three generations.'
