Embarking on the path of running


Back in early 2011, I went to donate blood at the blood bank until June, but failed three times in a row. Twice due to high transaminase levels and once due to lipemia after the New Year. Seeing my health deteriorate, I knew I had to improve my physical fitness through exercise. Running is a simple sport that can enhance physical fitness, so on September 1, 2011, I embarked on the path of running. From the initial 200 meters, gasping for breath, to 4KM, 5KM, 8KM, and eventually full marathons and 12-hour ultramarathons.

Recalling the marathons I've participated in: June 15, 2014, Tengzhou Weishan Lake Wetland Marathon (353), April 25, 2015, Lanling International Half Marathon (141), September 20, 2015, Beijing International Marathon (333), November 15, 2015, Linyi International Marathon (321), April 17, 2016, Qufu 12-hour Ultramarathon (12 hours 103KM), September 17, 2016, Beijing International Marathon (342), October 6, 2016, Zaozhuang International Marathon (341), October 30, 2016, Taishan International Marathon (349), November 6, 2016, Mining University Half Marathon (137), and over 50 online half marathons and one online full marathon.

"RunAtDawn" and my "Persistence"


Two years ago, I accidentally saw "Iron Wing Across the Sky" (a marathon and endurance runner) initiate "RunAtDawn" online. Seeing the positive energy in his words, I was instantly filled with vitality and determination. So, I wanted to inspire those around me with my actions. I started with myself and created a "RunAtDawn" post on Codoon.

From January 24, 2016, to now, I have consistently checked in on Codoon for over 360 days. Through daily exercise, I developed a fixed habit. In behavioral psychology, the phenomenon where it takes at least 21 days for a new habit or idea to form and solidify is called the 21-day effect. This means that if a person repeats an action or thought for 21 days, it becomes a habitual action or thought. I treat each day as a small goal, and over time, it turns into persistence. Like every morning, I wake up before 5:20 without an alarm, put on my running gear, and go for a run. Many running friends were also inspired and joined the "RunAtDawn" team!

Exercise brings not only physical changes but also changes in self-awareness and life attitude. Physical changes can affect one's emotions and cognition, and in turn, a positive attitude can motivate one to treat their body better. Everyone knows this principle, but only by experiencing it firsthand can one truly understand and appreciate it.

2016's Achievements and 2017's Goals


In the past year of 2016, through running and cycling, I met a group of like-minded running friends. We encouraged each other to persist and completed my first 100KM. Using my knowledge of sports to help running friends solve their doubts is something I find happy and fulfilling.

In the new year of 2017, a new starting point, a new journey. To quote President Xi's words, "Roll up your sleeves and work hard." I set my goals for 2017: to complete the Wuxi, Wuhan, and Qufu second ultramarathons in the first half of the year, and a Jinan ultramarathon and nearby marathons in the second half.

Finally, I want to send some New Year blessings to Codoon friends: In the new year, a new starting point, a new journey, start from today, run with a peaceful mindset. At the beginning, don't worry about speed, distance, or time. Remember, our original intention for exercising is health. I wish all running friends a pain-free and successful journey.
