【celebrity show】after running 330km i am also a girl with a story
(2019 KINETIK Wumeng Mountain Ultra Trail Race)
Recently, I completed the Wumeng Mountain Ultra Trail Race. It's said that I gained quite a few fans, as there aren't many women in China who have completed a 330KM race. I'm truly grateful for the recognition and encouragement from fellow runners.

Many runners started asking: Are you a professional athlete? Were you a professional athlete before? Did you train in sports when you were young?
Based on these questions, I decided to write this article to share my story: how someone who failed physical education as a child transformed into someone who completed a 330KM ultra trail race.
Yes! You read that right, and I didn't write it wrong. I failed physical education as a child!
(2017 Jeju Island Citrus Marathon)
I used to be a sickly child who rejected exercise from the bottom of my heart.
From elementary to high school, I almost never attended physical education classes because I frequently had tonsillitis. My mom said that when I was little, I slept with my mouth open, and my tonsils were constantly swollen to the third degree. To prevent complications, I had to undergo surgery to remove them.
Although the removal didn't affect my daily life, I was missing an organ, and my throat lacked a guard, making my resistance much lower than normal. When ordinary people catch a cold, they feel a sore throat and recover quickly by taking precautions. But I wouldn't feel pain, and by the time I noticed, it had already progressed to pneumonia. After exercising and sweating, catching a cold and fever became routine, so I avoided physical education classes whenever I could.
(2019 Tropic of Cancer 21° Mengla Tropical Rainforest Cross-Border Ultra Trail Race)
Until the end of middle school, I spent every Chinese New Year's Eve in the pediatric ward getting IV drips before I could go home to watch the Spring Festival Gala. For every physical education exam, I would get a medical certificate to be exempted. As a genuine sickly child, long-term injections and medications made me reject exercise from the bottom of my heart.
Because of injections, my sciatic nerve was damaged, and in the early days, I couldn't lift my legs, especially my left leg. Later, through practicing yoga, it gradually improved. This is also why I often fall during trail runs, as my balance is poor.
When the college entrance exam approached, there was no exemption policy for physical education, so I had to face it head-on. I remember starting that spring, my dad would accompany me every day with a tape measure and stopwatch to practice. I didn't dare to do the standing long jump, fearing I would fall. I couldn't pass the solid ball test, so I chose the shot put instead. Looking back now, it seems my tomboy tendencies had early signs.

Sports dance opened up my meridians for exercise.
After smoothly entering university life, my resistance improved significantly at 18. Out of a deep-seated love for dance, I took up sports dance as an elective. Later, a senior took over the school's dance hall, and I started a dance training class. Since there were many girls in my university, the class became very popular. By the time I graduated, I was already a well-known cheerleading captain at the school.
(2016 Singapore Sunset Marathon)
From then on, my long-closed meridians seemed to be fully opened, and I officially embarked on the path of enjoying exercise.
(2017 Heavy Load Hiking on the Xiate Ancient Trail)
After starting work, I didn't give up exercise. Instead, I became very interested in fitness, heavy load hiking, and other activities. At that time, I was a university teacher and spent my summer backpacking alone from Sichuan through Qinghai to Tibet. But I rarely ran then, occasionally jogging for 30-40 minutes, and I didn't understand pacing.
(2019 Minqing Mountain Trail Race)
I officially started running in 2015. At that time, I was running a guesthouse in Lijiang and often stayed up late due to work. I would sleep until one or two in the afternoon, and over time, I felt my health deteriorating. So I sought change and vowed to start morning exercises, getting up at 6:30 AM to run. Almost no one believed I could do it.
But I really did it. From the start until now, I've been running for four years, progressing from 6KM to 10KM, half marathons, full marathons, and now 50KM trail races, 100KM, 168KM, and recently completing a 330KM ultra trail race. Once I started running, I couldn't stop.

Traveling through mountains and rivers, life is worth it.
Marathons and trail races have opened another window for me: sports can be so much fun. A girl who once failed physical education can experience extreme sports. Humans truly have unlimited potential and possibilities. As long as you have a delicate heart and persistence, there's no place too far to reach.
(2015 Beijing International Marathon) [First Marathon]
Recently, I had dinner with my mom's colleagues, and one of the aunts remarked: Those who were top athletes in school are now pot-bellied and no longer exercise; only this girl who failed physical education is still playing marathons.
(2017 GARMIN ATRAIL Zhangye Qilian Mountain 100KM Ultra Trail Race)
(2019 Jiangxi 100 International Ultra Trail Challenge)
Because of exercise, I have become that 'girl with a story' in other people's mouths. I'm very fortunate to have found a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle. I can travel through beautiful landscapes, taste delicious food, and make friends all over the world.
Life always has its ups and downs, and there will always be obstacles and setbacks. The persistence and training from trail running have taught me how to better face life with a smile. I also want to tell those who want to run marathons or trail races: If a girl like me who failed physical education can run marathons and trail races, you can try it too!
I hope we can all travel through mountains and rivers, making life worthwhile!
