tiger running let me know there are more possibilities in life
“Treat every day as if it were the first and last day of your life.”
“There will be apples, and there will be bread.”
This is a quote I particularly liked while reading a book.
One should live with passion and savor life.
Once a big fat guy
My name is Guo Yanhu, but everyone calls me Tiger.
I come from Puyang, Henan, an economically underdeveloped place that, even now, doesn't have high-speed rail.
When I was 15 or 16, I was a typical big fat guy, weighing 213 pounds. As my mom used to say, being fat means being blessed and looking comfortable. But this 'blessing' made it hard for me to run even 500 meters, making me extremely weak. Moreover, when I decided to join the army at 18, I failed the physical exam because I was too fat. The recruiting officer said, 'You're too fat, lose some weight!'
To join the army, I worked hard on the farm and chopped wood for a year, losing 50 pounds. The following year, I successfully became a member of the People's Liberation Army.
Everyone knows that the army is like a university and a melting pot. In just one year, it transformed me inside and out, laying a solid foundation for my athletic pursuits. I believe that without the army's training, I wouldn't be the better version of myself that I am today.

Running helped me meet a better version of myself.
Because of my love for sports and running, I truly encountered a better version of myself.
I started running in 2015, and later participated in marathons, trail races, gym workouts, swimming, and skydiving.
I'm addicted to sports. I remember completing my first marathon in Beijing, which not only made me fall in love with running but also gave me an opportunity to host an event. Although it was a small running event, it made me more confident through that hosting experience.
Since last year, I officially transitioned to becoming a professional sports host and also worked part-time as a sports model. My love for sports not only changed my physique but also gave me immense confidence.
I especially want to thank Codoon for helping me record my mileage and life on my running journey. Through Codoon, I met many friends and received a lot of support and attention from fellow runners. Currently, I have 150,000 followers on Codoon.
We met on Codoon because of running, exchanged and learned about running, participated in offline running activities, and discussed various sports products from Codoon's new releases. Over the years, I ran the 2017 and 2018 Beijing Marathons and the Guangzhou Marathon, as well as the 2017 and 2018 Beijing International Half Marathons. I was honored to be recommended by Codoon as the official pacer for these events and other city marathons. In 2018, I was also invited to model sportswear for Adidas and Kailas. I feel very fortunate to have achieved all this and look forward to becoming even better in the future, meeting a better version of myself with everyone.
The most memorable moment for me was April 15th this year. The sun rose early that day, and over 20,000 people gathered at Tiananmen Square in Beijing to participate in the grand 2018 Beijing International Long-distance Running Festival - Beijing Half Marathon. As a running enthusiast, I was fortunate to be one of them and even luckier to become an official pacer.
Standing at the starting point, I was both excited and nervous. I finally became an official pacer for the 2018 Beijing Half Marathon.
I want to especially thank Codoon for the recommendation, the Beijing organizing committee, and Xtep for the opportunity.
My first half marathon was the 2017 Beijing Half Marathon. At the start, I met an official pacer on the track.
Running was still very challenging for me at that time. The official pacer gave me a lot of encouragement and kept telling me to follow him. Along the way, I felt constantly motivated and followed the pacer to the finish line. At the finish line, the pacer even taught me how to stretch and massage, which was incredibly touching.
So, over the next year, I kept training, constantly improving my personal best, and learning stretching and massage techniques, always striving towards my dream.
If I were asked whether I would continue to be a pacer for other events, I would unhesitatingly agree to be a more competent and mission-driven official pacer.
Enjoying my sports labels
In 2018, I defined myself with labels such as professional sports host, sports model, running enthusiast, and stretching coach. I like these labels and enjoy being called by them.
Running has completely changed me, my life, and my career direction.
I love hosting every marathon and trail race. I enjoy the passionate opening and welcoming every runner at the finish line. I want to leave all my enthusiasm and passion to all the runners who love running. No matter how many years pass, I will still be Tiger, the one who loves running, trail racing, hosting, and being full of passion.
In 2018, while running marathons and trail races, I also hosted several sports events. Throughout the year, I hosted 61 running events nationwide and welcomed 300,000 runners at the finish line. I think this is the best and happiest gift of 2018. In 2019, I will continue running and hosting, bringing joy to myself and providing the warmest welcome to every runner who loves running.
No matter how tired I am, I know that after the storm comes the rainbow. So, don't stop; meet the best version of yourself on the running path because the world is waiting for you to run.
Finally, I want to say that we all know running is exhausting, and every step is tough.
Jonathan Lee said, 'Every step you take in life counts,' and it's the same on our running path. Every step we run counts. Running records our youth, sweat, persistence, and growth. Running is the best thing I've ever persisted in.
I am Tiger, a running enthusiast.
